Poll question: Will Chimp have the sheer balls to recess-appoint Bolton? |
|
I'm kinda doubting it. I don't think they need yet another political timebomb.

1. Yes. Chimpy wants his way all the time |
|

He doesn't listen to the polls, the people, or the press so he doesn't know or care how much dissent there might be.

but he can't have his way all the time. It's always a trade. If he continues to do things that damage his own political standing, eventually no GOPer in the Congress will want to be seen as having any association with the Bush agenda. Then the only option left for him will be Martial Law, literally -- and that wouldn't be an easy ride either.

5. I don't believe he is a cause and effect thinker |
|
You are right. But trying to think like he does hurts my brain and conscience...I still think he'll do it. Then the consequences will fall and they'll all blame Clinton.

I don't think he's a thinker at all, I think he's a puppet. But the cabal is full of brilliant and ruthless thinkers.
I guess we'll know soon enough. :)

given the huge opposition to such a move and his recent poll numbers. Face it, Bush isn't that smart. I doubt he does anything without permission from - his dad, Cheney, Wolfowitz etc.

...he is on a mission from (his bizarre perception of a) God; therefore, whatever he does cannot be wrong. He'll do it -----but it won't be due to cajones, it'll be due to religious insanity.

10. Congress say in session |
|
I think it is time for Congress to stay in session for the 4th of July to show the United States democracy at work against a President, who would use the time to dictate his own agenda no matter what. As President, he wants to keep bypassing safeguards in our Constitution. If Republicans can force Congress into adjournment, then they are in collusion with a White House. If they then use this time to bypass Congress on every American holiday. So every holiday the executive branch becomes the congressional branch of government. The White House must promise ahead of time to the American public its faith of three branches of equal powers of a Constitution.

But he's a spoiled little bastard who gets what he wants (most of the time) so, yes, I think he will push that piece of crap through.

He will use ploy to appoint his choice for the Supreme Court, taking Congress out of the loop. Now he has become a court by ordering the judicial sysyem around and by bypassing Congress, does America have its first dictator?

15. Frist said today that they won't have another vote on Bolton |
|
So, either WH sends over the docs, or Bolton is recess appointed, or no Bolton.
I agree with you that ChimpCo will stop at nothing to implement their agenda. But I'm doubting that Bolton himself is so fucking essential. They'll get some other PNAC ghoul.

Bill Frist said today that he will not be scheduling another vote on Bolton, and Scott McClellan piped in saying "We'll continue to work with the Senate leadership."
I think what he means is, "we're going to jam him through, divide the country further, make Bolton's appointment a joke, and by doing such reduce the US influence within the UN."
How can the UN take this guy seriously when he wasn't even confirmed? Then again, how can anyone take our president seriously for that matter?

27. I agree. There is nothing ballsy or bold about anything |
|
* does.
If he recess-appoints Bolton, it will be for one reason and one reason only: cowardice. He doesn't have the balls to push it through Congress and he doesn't have the balls to say "no" to his puppet masters.

17. Recess appointments are in emergencies, only |
|
or at least that is the way it's supposed to be.
There needs to be a vote in Congress as soon as they reconvene. They CAN and SHOULD overturn any recess appointment of this man. He is not merely incompetent and abrasive, the change at the State Department regarding nuclear non proliferation progress shows he may in fact be a traitor.

There is no downside -- will the Chimp's approval numbers slide below 42%, and if they do so what?
But the upside...HO BOY! More wars! More oil to steal! More brown people to kill! More war profiteering for the Carlyle Group! More inteligence to twist! More wars for "The War Prezeldent".
Why WOULDN'T he thwart the nation's will one more time with so much for the BFEE to gain?

He fortifies his base, get's his fascist in, and has only to wait the minor hubbub the Democrats make to die down.
It's not a "political timebomb" because most Americans don't give a shit about the UN or politics. Only if it affects their immediate do Americans pay attention.
