He basically said that if McCLintock does not drop out he urges the GOP to vor No on the Recall because otherwise Cruz will win>
Now wait just a GD minure here???? I thought the whole issue was about Gray Davis's fitness for office???? I am shocked to find out that Issa believes it is better to have a corrupt politician in office than a Fesh face Dem incumbent, who they would have to go head to head with in 2006.
Hey Issa. WHy couldn't you have had this epiphany before you spent $1.5M of your own money to get Davis Recalled in the interim.
Not only are you a wimp for getting out of the race becasue you got barked at by Rove. You apparently are an idiot as well.

that statement invalidates his entire reason for the recall. It also demonstrates the, yet again, how evil and unAmerican repugs are.

Issa is laerning just how corrupt the GOP is, and he got scammed by the right of the party... which is pretty impressive, given he is on the Extreme Right of the Party... makes you wonder just how far right the GOP goes.
And by the way... GO McIntock! One Republican with enough cajones to say no to Karl Rove and the WH... for that he should avoid small planes.

I actually think AHNOLD will drop out before Oct 7th and tell all his supporters to vote for McClintock.
Ahnold + McClintock > Bustamante
With McC, you get Bill Simon and Tom Delay rolled into one! Rove has it planned that Ahnold will go home to Maria, make T4, make $$$$$ and Bob's your Uncle.
Ahnold will find some neat excuse that won't damage his rep, tell everyone to vote Yes and McClintock, and skulk away with his millions. He gets publicity and 'gravitas' for perhaps a Senate challenge in '06, and Rove/Wingnuts get Their Man with 24% of the vote (since they can't win head-to-head).

that they truly believed Arnold was their best hope in Cali and are pissed at McIntock.
Seriously, the man should avoid small planes.
Now if they snuff him that way, it may just make some Repukes connect dots.
Reality is once I get my absentee ballot I know how I am voting, and it does not involve the GOP

19. Nothing could be finer than to dump on Darrell Issa in the morning... |
|

I called his office and had a great time! I told the staffer that, as a Californian, I wanted sincerely to thank Darrell Issa for singlehandedly making our state the laughing stock of the whole country. I also said I hoped he intended to pay for the clean-up, since he paid for the catering.
THEN, I called not JUST my representative, Henry Waxman, but SEVERAL others, including a handful in the California delegation. I told them, as a fellow Californian, I would like each of them to go over to Issa's office and present him with a nice rock. And then tell him this is what his fellow Californians would like him to crawl back under. I got SEVERAL laughs from staffers in Democrats' offices. They all sounded thoroughly disgusted with him. And that wasn't confined to Democrats in California.

4. This just shows how bad things are for the GOP in Calf. |
|
It also shows that the real reason behind this recall was to help Bush & Co. in '04 (I know we all knew that here, but it is nice to see it finally come out). If they keep Davis in, they think they will have a shot at Calf. If Cruz gets in, the Dem slate is clean in Calf plus there is a prominent Latino-American leading the state. This will hurt the GOP's efforts to get the Latino vote.
It is so nice to watch it all backfire on them.

He'd rather keep DAVIS than have a member of a minority there. What a surprise to find racism in the wingnut mindset. Btw, HE is a member of a minority group.

12. Issa: Political Dead Man walking! |
|
Ther is just nothing in this that could not have been foressen.
He knew he would get the signatures....He knew that Bill SImon would get in. He knew if Mclintock got in they would split the conservative vote three ways. Perhaps he did not forsee Arnold...but he had to have foresen Riordan as the moderte choice.
How small a chance was there that no Dem would get in?
Its just stunning to me ho this guy could not have foresen all of that.
Then caving to pressure to get out? Then saying He would vote for Gray Davis because there are two many republicane in the mix.
How much you wanna bet he just screwed the quid pro quo he got for getting out. (An unimpeded shot at Feinstien should Gray win and an unimpeded shot at Bustamante should Gray survive.
He's about to be a man without any political future!

18. McCLintock and Arnold are in to stay! |
|
If McClintock drops out My guess is that Simon will remeerg He is on the Ballot reagrdles... Conservative are not going to vote in Droves for Arnold they will sit out and Davis will win in a walk. Helll some republican would rather have Davis than a pot-smoking womanizing reprobate like Arnold.
Arnold will not drop out (ego proclude) and even if he does.... People who might vote for Arnold will likely split the vote between McClintock and Bustamante. Again that means a Davis win as well.

30. I have to agree with you on that one |
|
Arnold is attracting voters who probably wouldn't have bothered voting in this election but they are going so because they somehow like the thrill that an egomaniac action star can someone run the 5th largest economy in the world with amusing quotes like "I'll be back" and "Hasta La Vista, Baby".
Serious republicans know better and would probably rather see Bustamente or Davis finish out the term and go after California in 2006.

< http://customwire.ap.org/dynamic/stories/D/DAVIS_RECALL?SITE=CATOR&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT> Rep. Darrell Issa said Monday that if both leading GOP candidates remained on the ballot, he would urge voters to vote no on recalling Davis because a yes vote would assure a victory for Bustamante. ---

Edited on Tue Sep-23-03 05:02 PM by Democat
They never had a real problem with Davis, they just wanted to try to steal an election that they couldn't win fair.
As far as Cruz, he's "Mexican", that's the worst nightmare of many right wing racists.
