Great piece on Edward Klein author of Hillary smear at Salon
Very thorough and informative.

The article makes no assumptions about the guy but tries (and succeeds) in framing his efforts as purely in the interest of money.

<snip>

So maybe all the pop-psych explanations of how Ed Klein became Ed Klein pale in the light of an old-fashioned desire to get rich. After all, Klein's arc teaches us that it's not impossible for a foreign correspondent to become a retailer of Bill Clinton's tasteless rape jokes. A guy who once steered a Pulitzer Prize-winning weekly magazine can go on to "report" that Hillary Clinton's ass broadened after having Chelsea due to "chronic lymphedema ... disorder that causes gross swelling in the legs and feet." He can also write a passage this vapid, about Clinton's Wellesley classmates: They "refused to wear pretty dresses, style their hair, use coy remarks, or deploy any of the trappings that might make them appear subordinate to men. As a result, they sometimes appeared mannish."

The day before its publication, "The Truth About Hillary" was No. 9 on Amazon's list of bestsellers. And having a book in that slot is an ambition familiar to any New Yorker who has ever climbed a masthead or lunched at the Four Seasons.

"Isn't it Dr. Johnson who said any writer who doesn't write for money is a fool?" said Klein. "What I do for a living is write popular nonfiction and the more popular it is the more books I sell and the more money I make."

1. They have turned hate of Democrats into a business. I wonder how
all the other 'normal' corporations feel about having to pick one side or the other as markets go?

Doesn't seem to be working for faux. People will only watch the same old sitcom for a few years and then they move on.

3. yeah
'cept they've been hating the clintons for nigh on ten, fifteen years now. This guy wrote four books on the Kennedys - not all of them flattering.

I guess the question is would any liberal writer have the time/energy/interest in writing some scathing smear job about George H. W. Bush or Reagan? No because liberal writers are concerned with more pressing issues like, i dunno, taking care of sick, hungry, poor people or properly financing public education or not bombing innocent people. Scant liberal writers have neither the time nor patience to peddle this kind of shit. :puke:

2. just understand that that hyper-conservative Schailfe( ...something like
that) purchased boxes full of these books to pass out. He spreads his millions around to continue to try and destroy the Clintons, but i this case it's to make it look like the book is selling.
