5. "Where are the American journalistic heroes,..."
"...Where are the American journalistic heroes, now that we so desperately need them?"

A question I ask myself every day.

6. There are a few..
.. journalistic heroes and sheroes still around.

Helen Thomas for one!

Molly Ivins for another!

And don't forget Seymour Hirsch and Gore Vidal!

And of course, Randi Rhodes!

7. True, and thanks for the correction
I am a great admirer of all of those, and I would add to that list one Hendrick Herzberg (sp?) who writes for the "Talk of the Town" in the New Yorker. And many others of course that I have forgotten. I think that they are still being drowned out though, aren't they?

"Ananda" is a beautiful word, doesn't it mean "bliss"?

8. And now finally someone on MSNBC....
Gregory!! Though not up to their level, David Gregory comes up as more of a hero in simply reporting the truth than ignoring it.

9. Yes, because if we despair, Grover Norquist's quote...
is more likely to come true:

"'Once the minority of House and Senate are comfortable in their minority status, they will have no problem socializing with the Republicans. Any farmer will tell you that certain animals run around and are unpleasant, but when they've been fixed, then they are happy and sedate. They are contented and cheerful. They don't go around peeing on the furniture and such.'"

Our Democratic representatives in the House & Senate need to get support from us; they can't do it without us. We need to summon strength that they can use.

Funny, Norquist's quote actually inspired me to NOT give up. It put things into perspective for me. The Right thinks that they can just wear us down until finally we're docile, domesticated animals that will do whatever the "master" tells us to do. I...DON'T...THINK...SO!!!

13. I love Barney!
At the Conyers hearing, Congressman Barney Frank summed up the MSM response perfectly: “What the memo says is false, and besides, we knew all along what it was telling us.”
