This is what I say to GOPer idiots who say that Dick Durbin "called the troops Nazis":

If you read those FBI descriptions without knowing they were about GITMO ... and if I then asked you what you thought you were reading, you most certainly WOULD have believed that they were about actions taken by one of the regimes Durbin cited. No one would ever IN A MILLION YEARS read that and say "Oh, gee, that sounds like the U.S. Army." Would you?

So you see, Durbin was telling the truth.

Durbin's WHOLE POINT was that our troops are BETTER than that. Otherwise, the actions described would not have been shocking. Why don't they get it?

In this time though, he should have known that the way he framed it would have gotten what it did. He should not have apologized. That is a mistake most Dems make after they say something that is correct. They cave in to pressure. Rethugs twist all statements that don't line up with what they agree with and then even some Dems go along with the Rethugs on the attack. Same thing happened to Dean. When will Dems learn?

These Freepers can be extremely vicious and nasty. None of us have any idea what kind of hate mail Durbin was getting from those faithful followers. Something tells me it's mighty unnerving. Howard Dean is super thicked skin and can set an example for the rest. But it's hard for me to criticize someone whose thin skinned like me. My husband is thick skinned and gets mad at me all the time for getting upset because I'm not like him. I just identify with Durbin, and with Dean too.
