Kennedy: There is work to be done
The 2006 election campaigns for Congress have already begun. I'll be a candidate for re-election to the Senate, and I'll be campaigning hard in Massachusetts.

But these Senate and House races across the country are about more than another term in the Senate or House. More than ever, they are a chance to present our shared values to a large and attentive audience.

If we succeed, we can win new support, bring attention to the urgent challenges our nation needs to address, and revitalize the Democratic Party. So please take a moment and support my campaign. Together we can advance our cause in Massachusetts and across the country:

With your support, I will continue to do all I can to serve to serve the people of Massachusetts and the nation. It's an honor and a responsibility I don't take lightly. Serious issues are at stake, and with your help, we can begin to do more to address them:

The war in Iraq is at a critical point, and we must develop a strategy that is more effective and frankly, more honest than the strategy used by President Bush to take us into the war. We must have accountability, responsibility, and a belief in America's role as a moral leader in the world community.

Here at home, one million more Americans lose their health insurance every year, and those who have health insurance face higher and higher costs. We need decent health care for every American - and the right reforms will provide that care at a fair price.

Our country's commitment to education reform has to be more than rhetoric. Students, teachers, schools, and colleges deserve higher priority. The nation has to be willing to invest in its future. Reforms are essential at every level -- from early childhood education to graduate education -- to keep America prepared for the changing world economy.

Good jobs are essential too. Unemployment continues to be a serious concern in today's troubled economy and we can clearly do more to guarantee good jobs for more Americans, and help those who can't find work.

Together you and I can make a difference on each of these issues and many others:

Grassroots participation through the Internet empowers both the candidate and the voters. That's why the TedKennedy.com community is such a vital part of my campaign. Together we can be a quick and strong voice for change in Washington -- but we need the resources to make it happen.

My campaign depends heavily on contributions from men and women who care deeply about these issues and about the ongoing struggle for progress in this country. That investment is a strong--and sometimes decisive -- force. I hope very much you'll join the thousands of others who make this work possible, by making your own contribution:

We have a lot of work to do, for 2006 and beyond. Please join me in this battle, and together, I'm confident we'll prevail.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Edward M. Kennedy
United States Senator
