Let’s Get Ready to RUMBLE!!! DEAN to Focus on Election Fraud: OH & FL
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 10:35 PM by autorank
Let’s Get Ready to RUMBLE!!!DEAN to Focus on Election Fraud: OH & FL.!!!

Mainline Democrats haven’t talked about election fraud. There’s been a self-imposed black out on the issue. Things changed in a big way, at last weeks DNC meeting, June 13, 2005. Howard Dean spent considerable time talking about voting rights issues – voter suppression, problems with machines, and the general right to vote denied to many Democrats..

Dean’s key points were:

The DNC is taking voting rights very seriously;
DNC will start by focusing on 2004 Ohio and Florida where the worst abuses took place;
Dean mentioned key DNC staff working on voting rights/election fraud issues (Eric Holder, Arlene Meyerson, Rolanda Rios, & Paul Iasaki); and,
He announced a lawyer’s steering committee on voting issues as well.

Please note Eric Holder, in charge of this issue for Dean at the DNC is a former highly placed Clinton DOJ attorney and regarded as a legal heavyweight.

Dean made related remarks at aJune 12th Rainbow PUSH Town Hall Meeting on Re authoring the 1965 Voting Rights Act. DUer GettysbergII was at the meeting and reports:

“The most important statement I believe Dean made was to tell us to be prepared for a bombshell of a report the Democrats should be releasing in the next 10 days or so that documents the widespread voter suppression and fraud last November in Ohio particularly and the country in general. … Dean assured everyone that the Democrats will be ready for a serious legal tussle if necesary in 2006.”

How the scandal unfolds: It starts in Ohio

In Ohio, The Toledo Blade is doing an incredible series on Republican financial fraud called Coingate which is closely tied to election fraud. Tom Noe, a major Republican fund raiser was also an investor for the Ohio Pension Fund. He did a very poor job with over $200 million of worker pensions. He’s being charged with “conversion to personal use” and there is a real question about some of this money going to Bush-Cheney before 2004. The US Attorney knew about this well in advance of the 2004 election but did nothing. Officials in the Republican controlled Ohio state officials knew about it over a year ago and did nothing. The Toledo Blade reported an Ohio Democrat saying: "People are stunned by the corruption and arrogance of Ohio's Republicans," he said.” The Blade goes on to say, “That's why some Democratic members of Congress are planning to meet with Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean next week to talk about what happened in Ohio during the 2004 presidential election.

"I think there should be an investigation of Ohio," said Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo), who last week put a statement on the congressional record about Ohio's investment scandal. She said she is hopeful a meeting with Mr. Dean will put Democrats in position to undertake a review of what occurred in her home state.

Rep. Captur tells Dean Coingate Connected to 2004 Election Fraud

Bush US Attorney in Ohio Knew of Coingate Scandal Weeks before Election yet Silent

Evidence Pointing to Major Fraud (as in stolen) in the Ohio Election

Here is an analysis by DU’s own TruthIsAll of the Ohio Exit Polls. In the analysis, Kerry won by a clear margin of @ votes. These polls have been highly accurate in the past and used by the * people to show fraud in the Ukraine. Exit polls are used in many countries by international voting rights groups to spot fraud. Remember, Ohio’s Republican Secretary of State (and * Campaign chairman) refused to allow international observers in to view this. Disregard any comments on this thread disparaging exit polls as a pointer to fraud. This issue has been “debated” to death in Elections and the criticism is total bull shit.

HOW KERRY WON OHIO BY 51-48%...

Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 10:37 PM by TruthIsAll
Well, by winning the majority of virtually every
demographic...
The RBRs must have stayed home.

If you believe the Exit Poll, Kerry won OH by 160,000 votes.
If you believe the Vote, Bush won by 119,000 votes.

If Kerry won this solid Republican state by 51-48%, you just
KNOW he had to do 1-2% better nationally.

Which means he won the election by 6-8 million votes.

OHIO EXIT POLL
1,963 Respondents
Updated: 12:21 a.m.
Kerry won these demographic groups:
CATEGORY--KERRY Percentage

GENDER (52.06%)
RACE/GENDER (51.01%)
RACE (50.14%)
AGE( 51.39%)
INCOME (51.62%)
EDUCATION (50.94%)
PARTY ID (51.20%)
IDEOLOGY (50.97%)
VOTED BEFORE (50.70%)
RELIGION( 50.66)

On the Ground Evidence of Election Fraud

These highlights appear in the article at the links below. A quick review shows all sorts of problems.

Introduction: Did George W. Bush steal America's 2004 election?
by Bob Fitrakis, Steve Rosenfeld and Harvey Wasserman
June 16, 2005
http://www.freepress.org/departments/display/19/2005/1318 or, if you like TruthOut
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2005/061805Z.shtml

• Despite repeated pre-election calls from officials across the nation and the world, Ohio's Republican Secretary of State, who also served as Ohio's co-chair for the Bush-Cheney campaign, refused to allow non-partisan international and United Nations observers the access they requested to monitor the Ohio vote. While such access is routinely demanded by the US government in third world nations, it was banned in the American heartland.
• A post-election headline from the Akron Beacon Journal cites a critical report by twelve prominent social scientists and statisticians, reporting: "Analysis Points to Election ‘Corruption': Group Says Chance of Exit Polls Being So Wrong in '04 Vote is One-in-959,000."
• Citing "Ohio's Odd Numbers," investigative reporter Christopher Hitchens, a Bush supporter, says in Vanity Fair: "Given what happened in that key state on Election Day 2004, both democracy and common sense cry out for a court-ordered inspection of its new voting machines."
• Paul Krugman of the New York Times writes: "It's election night, and early returns suggest trouble for the incumbent. Then, mysteriously, the vote count stops and observers from the challenger's campaign see employees of a voting-machine company, one wearing a badge that identifies him as a county official, typing instructions at computers with access to the vote-tabulating software.
• Hundreds of Ohio African-American voters give sworn testimony that they were harassed, intimidated, deprived of voting machines, given faulty ballots, confronted with malfunctioning machines and hit with a staggering range of other problems that deprived them of votes that were destined for John Kerry, votes that might have tipped the Ohio outcome.
• A team of high-powered researchers discover results in three southern Ohio counties where an obscure African-American candidate for the state Supreme Court somehow outpolls John Kerry, a virtually impossible outcome indicating massive vote fraud costing Kerry thousands of votes.
• Up until 11pm Eastern time on election night, exit polls show John Kerry comfortably leading George Bush in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Mexico, giving him a clear victory in the Electoral College, and a projected national margin of some 1.5 million votes. These same exit polls had just served as the basis for overturning an election in Ukraine, and are viewed worldwide as a bedrock of reliability. But after midnight the vote count mysteriously turns, and by morning George W. Bush is declared the victor.

1. I SO hope you're right.
We all know how it went down. It seems others are finally catching on too. Will Dean get loud enough about this? Will the Dems finally demand to be heard? God, I hope so. We'll see what happens.

5. My dream would be to see this blown wide open.
All of the gathered information and supporting evidence shoved down the MSM's collective throat and forced out in the open where the entire American public is forced to see and consider it.

Many of the die-hard fundies will still argue - they always do - but I suspect your general, naive, run-of-the-mill middle American voter who isn't a real wonk, and doesn't follow politics too closely would be pretty surprised by all this. A lot of them just have no idea.

This is great. I knew and had a "gut feeling" that if you followed the coins (heh heh) you would uncover a lot of what went wrong in Ohio and they were connected to the last election. I'm glad to hear Dean is on it and ready to fight. Any word on when he's supposed to make this announcement?

95. Well, we know their record. This is a good start but 1/2 way there.
The issue of racism was addressed. This was the cause of the stolen election in Florida, 50,000 black voters disinfranchised due to a "purge" system that the software company said was flawed. We never addressed this as a party. Well, it's five years later but at least we're on record.

The next step is to critique the rewpor, help DNC get a quick study on things, and move on to more important issues like theft of the election in OHIO and the country.

Finally, they've mentioned the unmentionable "election fraud" and, odd as it may seem, "voting rights."

12. The DNC Better Start Listening to Dr. Dean! Harris 2000/Blackwell 2004
The evidence is overwhelming! And it's about time... thanks to Dean!

* thought Dem's would grow weary, over-tiring them w/tons of illegal litter they'd never have time to even catch their breathe.

It's high time Dem's grow spine, but more than that: Speak out!

When you've at the bottom w/nothing else to loose it's time to tell it like it is. Then when they do they're suppose to apologize (Durbin)! At least Dean says "it" and takes "it" like a true TruthSeeker. Add Conyers and the other House of Rep's to that, as well.

Now, the Senate... waiting... still awaiting...

14. whose to say just dean is doing this
whose to say the dems arent aware, adn that they didnt gather the research and decide to present it thru dnc adn dean. which i think is a good move letting dean handle this one.

so much of this board isnt a wait and see, so much is simply jumping to conclusion and attacking fellow dems

i know teresa kerry said the election was stolen. i am going to do a bit of assuming here, that it is possible she at least has kerry's ear or they are in agreement and have talked about it

but without knowing shit, i am not going to assume it is solely an effort of dean and dems are sittin back being spineless.

This was a collective effort. The DNC is doing this not just Dean.
I was as interested as you in the Teresa statement. It said worlds of information in just a sentence. I hope they're all behind this.

There has been a lot of lobbying of the DNC to take this issue seriously, including DUers so it's a collective effort.

No attacks on fellow Dems here...this is a time to take a deep breath and gather for the coming effort.

37. The post showed a spirit and will that will prevail. Have hope.
There are tens of thousands of people showing up to protest Arnold and his special election. These are public servants, nurses, police, fire, and teachers. Their unions are strong and will not take crap. Let Arnold try to steal something out there. These people are the harbinger for the larger public movement that will sweep the nation. Feel good, presidents with 42% approval ratings get really screwed. *'s is still falling. He has nothing good on the horizon. His day was yesterday, the future is ours. They can just drop their masks and surrender, but they won't so it will take a while.

byronius, in his post, shows a level of understanding and will that cannot be deterred. That's why I left the post. I was a bit cryptic so I'm glad you pointed that out.

right. One of the items is that judges do the redistricting. You know that means the districts will be redrawn to bring in more red votes than blue or I think so Arnold hopes. Democracy is becoming a joke in this state.

93. They're 50% there! More work to do with them but A GOOD START!
My passion is the statistical evidence of fraud that makes total sense out of the on-the-ground abuses. They're not in the right place on that issue yet but there is hope.

This report nails it on the racism of the voting process in Ohio, deliberate voter suppression, which our party ignored in 2000 (Florida's election was essentially a huge Voting Rights Act violation against black Floridians, 100,000 excluded from registering).

The report addresses technology issues and goes after DRE's.

The fact that they did this and are getting serious about this now is great. Things will expand rapidly.

I need to go back and look at what they've done in more detail, particularly computer security and fraud checks.

Good Start

I do not believe the GOP can pull it off. They can dream, but they cannot actually get there. They have awakened the sleeping giant. Slowly but surely, and as it has done in the past, the Wheels of American Justice will sort this out. When it is over, we will have a damned good voting system for generations to come, and the Republican Party will be identified for these same generations as the Party of Greed and Very Bad Decisions.

106. "New York is a Fun City" Mayor John Lindsay, 1973
Now is that whining? In the original post the themes that were expressed today were outlined at the press conference. As DUer GettysbergII said, Dean said he wasn't going to drop the Exit Poll bomb. That's not all right but remember this, there has been a great deal of pressure from Democrats everywhere on this report. What came out today would have been tepid or a mere memo had it not been for that pressure.

Can we make them review TruthIsAll, Freeman, etc. and understand that the on-the-ground voter suppression that they do outline so well goes hand in hand with a stolen election. That should be enough without the analysis of the National and State Exit Polls. But they failed to take the next step.

At the very least, they took THE ESSENTIAL FIRST STEP and hit voter suppression very hard and tied it to race (remember FL 2000). It's an issue now and the next step is to pound on them to understand the wider implications. If you look at their suppression arguments, that's enough to say it was stolen in Ohio.

The issue is on the table from DNC. Hopefully Brazil will disappear from the process entirely and the new crew, which does not include her name, will take over and do some real digging.

So yes, they didn't do what they were supposed to do--state clearly that all the suppression they outlined, clear Voting Rights Act violations, combined with "serious questions" from the polling shattered our faith in democracy.

They'll do better next time or they'll be bypassed by history.

People want to know how such a loser got elected. We have the answer, it was stolen! which provides a certain level of comfort (since it can absolve anyone who wants to forget they voted for *).

PS. NYC was a fun city then and is now (I was there in the 70's and it totally rocked, as you probably know)

109. Well, I agree with you there, autorank:
"People want to know how such a loser got elected. We have the answer, it was stolen!" --autorank

I think this is puzzling a whole lot of people--how did this jerk and his murderous, thieving Cartel get "re-elected"?

I keep looking at these polls: Bush approval rating, bad over the last year, now sinking like the Titanic, with 60% to 70% of Americans disapproving of every major Bush policy, foreign and domestic.

And when you look at the election numbers--I mean the real ones that we are forced to suss out by inference and mathematical calculation, because the election system itself was such a fraudulent, non-transparent, unverifiable, invalid scam--you begin to understand what really happened.

Kerry won the exit polls. And the ways that the exit polls vary from the official tally have been proven to be impossible. (The exit polls are right, and the official tally is wrong.)
The Democrats blew the Bushites away in new voter registration in 2004, nearly 60/40. The vast majority of those new voters voted for Kerry.
The vast majority of Independent voters voted for Kerry.
The vast majority of Nader voters voted for Kerry.
And on and on and on and on.

IT JUST DOESN'T ADD UP! And there is really only one conclusion that you can come to, when you look at all the evidence: Bush lost!

But autorank--while I'm finding your optimism very buoying today, and while it's true that without intense hard work and pressure from the grass roots, this report on the egregious violations of federal election law in Ohio wouldn't even exist--I am appalled at the report's assertion that the election was not a fraud (THAT will be the headline tomorrow, if they cover this at all), and I am even more alarmed at the DNC's endorsement of ES&S's optiscans and their failure to even mention WHO OWNS AND CONTROLS our election system and is counting all the votes with secret, proprietary software--major Bush partisans! Our election system has not just been privatized--that is bad enough--but it has become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party!

The latter is a staggering omission in the DNC report--and I think points to the corruption within the Dem Party on the matter of electronic voting systems--which I know for certain exists in California, and probably exists all over the country.

Do you think this election system can be reformed, and democracy restored, in this circumstance? I think it can, but it is going to be a much more difficult fight as a result of this report--which blackholes some critically important information, and will retard efforts at true accountability. I think we have to be very realistic about who the enemies of democracy are, and they include some members of our own party who are blockading real reform out of blindness, collusion and corruption.

That said, as you know, I'm in this fight with all my heart, and to the end. We MUST win it. And we must use whatever strategic resources and ideas and the elements of our party that will get the job done. The job is to throw these Bushite companies out of the election business, and put our elections back into the public venue.

And not stop until we do. That's all there is to it. It MUST be done, or our democracy is at an end.

112. Report released. Overall I give 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Needs improvement, additional supplements. Not a bad report though and not a whitewash.
