Either he or his family. Of course, I've read that Daley dissed him, also.

via email
for his bravery in standing up
to the torture condoned by the Bush regime
and that he need not apologize to me.

7. Is there an e-addy for him?
It seems like most of the time I go looking for an email addy for a member of Congress, there isn't one on their site. Or maybe it's just my Congresscritters that don't want to hear from me.

8. Remember what Bush did to McCain and his family
after he was afraid McCain would get the nomination. Bush and his boys spread vile lies about McCain's wife and family and had them published in far right newspapers?

15. And don't forget
They made calls to predominantly White households in South Carolina, asking "Do you know John McCain has a black baby." And Bush personally approved that strategy.

"But who could put out the message, given Bush's promise to be a uniter, not a divider? Several outside groups, including the National Right to Life Coalition, Americans for Tax Reform and the National Rifle Association, stepped right up. "Right to Life will do radio; A.T.R. will do TV ads," said one of Bush's South Carolina advisers. Even though coordinating with third-party groups is illegal, the discussion explicitly revolved around the idea that these groups could be counted on to do whatever it took--whether it was running ads, passing out literature or making phone calls--to destroy McCain and save Bush.

Briefed later that day in his hotel suite, Bush agreed to the battle plan. The next 18 days would be the ugliest of his political career. In the heart of the Confederacy, phone callers and leaflets attacked McCain's wife's drug addiction, made racial attacks on McCain's adopted Bangladeshi daughter and warned of "McCain's fag army." Bush won the state by 11 points."

11. Doesn't matter, if he's the leader he was elected to be.
Bold, honest, truthful opinions and statements are what's to be expected of those who represent THE PEOPLE. If he thinks so little of himself and his public responsibilities that he would bow to threats then he needs to resign or be removed because he's not doing his job.

He iss Gutt Cherman.

To me it's more like Durbin was left out in the middle of the ocean alone with the hungry sharks because the dem leadership cared more about their own skins.

20. Daley is a big legacy player. His Dad ran Chicago...and is said
to have delivered the votes for John Kennedy. I was shocked that his son would come down on Durbin so I think it was Daley jr. who might have been threatened...:scared:

23. Sorry No Al Capones Left In Chicago...LOL
Richie Daley speaks for Richie Daley. He's never been a liberal/progressive and never will be. He's also very close buds with Denny Bastert...since the two of them have been dipping into federal funds (O'hare expansion) and watch after each others tails.

No one is gonna pay any attention to what Richie said...including Durbin...and I saw the clip...it was a side remark, typical Richie pissing and moaning...and even the local news anal-ist laughed it off as well.

This Illinois Democrat is very proud of his Senator. He didn't appologize for what he said, he appologized for offending those who didn't like what he said...a big difference! If he were to run for re-election in this state, he'd get 65% of the vote.

Yep, the truth's a bitch...and Durbin was bit for speaking it, but also he's been targeted by the right wing hate machine for a while, now he's made it to "superstar" catagory. Way to go Dick!!!

25. surely not. surely no one in our government would be so crass
surely no one would threaten a democratic leader would they? like when dubya and dick personally called tom daschle and threatened him with anthrax death if he looked too deeply into 9/11, that's just a rumor.

26. I do.
No doubt in my mind. It's the repuke way.

After he read that email from Heather where Wellstone said Cheney threatened him and his family, I KNEW Durbin was threatened.

Anthrax to Daschle

Anthrax to LIBERAL media

Anthrax to National Enquirer

Wellstone and family is dead

Newsweek retracts Koran story (probaby threatened)

Dan Rather/CBS retracted AWOL story (probably threatened)

Corporate media is SILENT (all threatened)

28. Threats can take so many forms.
Some are explicit, others are implicit. I found his presentation to be similar to a weak kid on a playground, willing to humiliate himself so that a bully doesn't thrash him.

Who backed down within two days of his 60 Minutes interview, even after saying on air that he was not afraid. "What can they do to me? I'm rich, I'm old..." (paraphrasing from memory here)

Remember what they tried to do to Scott Ritter?

And where is Richard Clarke these days?

They must have some powerful magic words...

edit: spelling
