:toast:

"The location of the crash could not be released "due to host nation sensitivities," U.S. Air Force Capt. David W. Small, a Central Command spokesman, said in an e-mail when asked for more information."

5. Some interesting points in that story
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 11:09 AM by ewagner
like:

Officials said the palne was "...returning from a mission."...on edit: the article DID say it was a mission "involved with Afghanistan". Whenever they use modifiers like that, I'm deeply suspicious. They choose their words for these press releases too carefully for that to be just a sloppy sentence.

Officials declined to identify the site of the crash, due to sensitivities "in the host country. (Like maybe this is a secret base?

They did give the name of the pilot as well as his rank. Was this an Air Force or CIA mission?

6. Why?
I'm sure they use U2s in Afghanistan. And U2s, like other planes, crash sometimes. The U2 is a spy plane, and flies spy missions, and therefore by their very nature those missions are shrowded in secrecy.

Not saying that what you said is impossible, but I'm not seeing any reason to directly link it either.
