What happened at the speech to the UN today?
I missed it, I was in French class when it was on. What happened? Can anyone provide me a link to a transcript or an online video of it?

3. It was bizarre.
BTW, C-Span will likely show it over and over.

But what I saw of it was bush stating how much better off the Iraqis are now, etc etc. THEN, he gets into this weird rant about international sex slaves, and goes on and on. I am not joking. It was almost surreal.

I heard no applause, but I missed part of it.

6. Hey, if you can't get them pumped up about terrorism, then
try a sex slave trade scare. Of course, drunken, lying, murdering scumbag * is hardly anyone to inspire feelings of security against perverts.

7. I understand that, but it was toooooo weird.

Some of the delegates watching him had their mouths hanging open. Imagine the phrase, "What the HELL is he talking about?", in the many languages going on in their heads.

It reminded me of the "White Slavery" hysteria of the 1920s.

8. no applause at intro, none during, but polite applause at end
Silence greeted Bush at his introduction

Silence during his speech.

At completion of his ranting -- mild applause

No one stood-up. Applause lasted maybe 1 minute.
It was diplomatic polite, lite applause only.

9. misleader-in-chief
One thing that bothered me is Shrub put much emphasis on the War on Terror. Trying to create the meme that Iraq was part of the War on Terror. It wasn't, it was grand theft oil and a distraction to the WOT. And the reporters I saw just basically took that part as self evident.

That bothered me a great deal. The more that meme gets entrenched, the better the chance Bush gets away with a lot of his BS.

11. Didn't look like anyone in the room bought it
The Afghan delegate had a look on his face like he just found out he had ED when Bush was talking about Afghanistan building "a free and just society".

10. Just finished watching it
The delegates had a look on their faces like they wanted him to shut up and get it over with. There were QUITE a few points in his little speech that were obviously there for people to applaud at. Nothing happened. He got a nice polite applause, and that was about it. There were QUITE a few delegates who were muttering to eachother about something too. Our Glorious Leader has officially made an ass of himself and the US on the world's stage.

13. Saw on CBS news tonight the speech that followed by Chriac
and it was some pissing in his face. Would like to hear exactly what all he said. Oh, and Kofi Annan (sp.?) also addressed the group and basically pissed on him, too. He's going to have to get even with them all,you know. That's the way the Bush's work. Wonder how much longer before there is an unfortunate terrorist blast that reduces the UN and it's ministers to atoms.

18. Yeah
I was listening to this in the office today and it sounded like Kofi was ripping Dub a new arsehole. Listened to the Bush speech too but had couldn't tell what he was even yammering about until the sex slave stuff and had no idea why he was dwelling on something everyone is against rather than taking the opportunity to get support for the Iraq effort. Besides the normal empty rhetoric, anyway.

20. In regards to the lack of applause
Prior to today's session, Kofi Annan ask the audience not to clap during any of the speeches. I'm sure he did this to allow Bush to save face but there normally is not a lot of clapping during these kind of speeches anyway. However, I doubt if members had ever before been instructed not to clap.
