and was a totally reluctant campaigner and ambassador. I'm pretty sure she just put her foot down and flatly refused to do any more of it.

That raises a real problem. The junta can't go themselves to a lot of the world, because a lot of the world is quite ready to arrest them and deliver them to the Hague. They can't send the daughters because they are completely unsuited to the job through age and upbringing.

It will be interesting to see who they send off on goodwill missions from now on.

First lady Laura Bush will visit northern Arizona today on an unannounced trip to the Grand Canyon.
Bush is planning a rafting trip on the Colorado River with friends and will later hike out, several sources said.

Secret Service agents were spotted around the park last week. Local law enforcement agencies will be providing any additional security and transportation needs the first lady might have.

U.S. first lady Laura Bush has scheduled a visit to Africa in July to show American concern for the continent's problems, the White House said Tuesday.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Laura Bush would speak in support of women's rights, the importance of education, and the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Her exact itinerary was still being worked out, but McClellan said the trip is scheduled to follow the G8 summit of industrialized nations July 6-8 in Gleneagles, Scotland, which President Bush will attend accompanied by his wife.
The Africa trip is seen in the context of stepped up African relief efforts, particularly by EU governments that have pledged to double their aid to the poverty stricken continent.
The Bush administration had agreed to participate in an international program to reduce Africa's massive debt.
In May, Laura Bush visited Egypt, Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian West Bank in what was billed by the administration as an effort to improve the U.S. image in the Arab world.
