Some folks in Haines, Alaska, are mad that antiwar, anti-Bush singer/songwriter Steve Earle will be appearing at the Southeast Alaska State Fair there July 30.

They've been writing angry letters and taking out ads in the Chilkat Valley News since May, saying Earle's music has Marxist undertones. Some have called for a boycott of the fair.

The negative publicity has generated lots of radio play of Earle's songs and 300 ticket sales for the Grammy-nominated country rocker's show. "We've never pre-sold that many tickets to anything before," said fair director Herb VanCleve.

I'm so glad he's sold so many tickets! I can't believe the freepers didn't learn a damn thing after the Dixie Chicks movement they had. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
