Responding to controversial comments by Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-IL) regarding the treatment of detainees at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly said that Americans "must know the difference between dissent from the Iraq war and the war on terror and undermining it," and that "any American who undermines that war ... is a traitor." He then hurled this accusation at Air America Radio: "So, all those clowns at the liberal radio network, we could incarcerate them immediately. Will you have that done, please? Send over the FBI and just put them in chains, because they, you know, they're undermining everything and they don't care."

Our gov't rules, so we have been told, by the "consent of the governed." And the people are paramount.

O'Reilly must really hate America since he wants to reduce it to the level of despotic regimes that dare not let their people be free to criticize their own governments.

Loofah man is losing it, his viewership is down and, contrary to all his predictions, AAR is still on the air and apparently thriving. Just as our founding fathers envisioned when they spoke out for the right of the governed to dissent against a monarch out of touch and unconcerned with the daily lives and interests of Americans. They established the Constitution with its Bill of Rights in which free speech was guaranteed and protected. For all their human foibles and biases of their time, they still were giants when they framed the Constitution.

O'Reilly and his ilk enjoy the benefits of the liberties the Founding Fathers established while they would deny these same liberties to their fellow Americans. They would turn America into a banana republic. They are, simply, Un-American, seeking to undermine the Constitution.
