"We are fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here...".? |
|
McClellan just repeated that for about the one thousandth time. But I'm wondering, just where and how would we be fighting them here? Would they be coming in over the porous borders? Would they still be flying in on airlines? Would they invade us with submarines?? i would like more details on just how they envision we would be fighting "them" here? How do they think they would most likely infiltrate our country? Just curious?

Actually, I'd think it gives them one HELL of a training and recruiting ground. And apparently, the CIA agrees (report out earlier today; sorry I don't have the link).

12. I think it ranks right behind: "9-11 taught us oceans don't protect us... |
|
... anymore".
Well DUH!! We learned that with the advent of the ICBM, you moron!
Not to mention the submarine, the airplane, the steamship, etc. Oceans have not protected us since the War of 1812.
Statements like this make me wonder if they really ARE just horrendously incompetent, and not just a pack of theiving liars. Either way, they've got to go.

Then he'll mutter something insulting about the person asking the question and do his little bobble head smirk. Then, he'll point to one of his spin doctors for an "appropriate" question, citing his 'new rule' about press conferences and who gets called on.

Later that same day, some RW reporter will bash the guy asking the question, and offer their take on just how and where the terrorists will be arriving if we bleeding heart, Saddam-supporting liberals don't keep our big mouths SHUT!!

... it's just cover-their-ass politico-speak.
This one is in the category of "Nicaraguan tanks are only two days away from the Texas border" talk.
Sounds as if it means something, but it doesn't actually mean anything.
Cheers.

I wonder what the "free" Iraqis think about the fact that the USA is saying that their homeland is now being used for our own personal battlefield against other terrorists.
Are we there to "free" Iraq or are we there to turn it into a battlefield?
Which is it?

fight 'them' here-
then maybe we'd be alot less anxious to spend our trillions on weapons of death, than on ways to truly enhance the lives of all on earth-
If we saw what 'we' are doing, i believe 'we'd' demand it stop.

29. Only one problem with this: |
|
>>>"If we saw what 'we' are doing, i believe 'we'd' demand it stop."<<<
The U.S. wouldn't put up with any such nonsense in their own yard. Tanks rolling down the streets, checkpoints, depleted uranium, dead kids... are you kidding? No way! We'd be late getting to Walmart! :sarcasm:
BTW, any time someone provides a report complete with pics of the carnage, it's labeled Al Jazeera propoganda and laughed at.
I wonder if the neocons really believe that, or just want to put all that blood and gore they're paying for out of their tiny little minds?

13. They weren't THERE till Bush invaded. Saddam kept the extremist groups OUT |
|
of Iraq. Bush just brought them in.
Just as Bin Laden wanted.
Does Bush justify killing over a hundred thousand INNOCENT Iraqis just because he wants ti use THEIR country to lure terrorists there?
Is that how the 3000 Americans who were killed on 9-11 would like to see their deaths avenged, by killing a hundred thousand more INNOCENTS?

16. It's all part of the "script"- |
|
It's all part of the neocons' idea of "shaping reality". Bush and his ilk seem jealous of the Greatest Generation who had World War II, so they seem to have set up their own "generational war" that they can be part of and feel patriotic about.
It's all based on lies and "fixes" and set-ups if you look underneath, but on the surface they get to look like heroes (from the comfort of their armchairs, mind you).

I was out in Palm Springs and this guy wearing a huge cross around his neck started chatting with me while we were in a check out line at the grocer. He brought up Bush and Iraq. I pointed out that things weren't going so swimmingly well there. His response:
"We have to fight them there, so that we don't have to fight them here."

33. Whenever someone says that bullshit, I always |
|
post pictures of dead or maimed Iraqi children (either by us or by "insurgents") and ask if these children and their families appreciate us taking the fight over there instead of here.
It comes down to selfishness basically, and the fact that if you can't see the suffering, you don't have to think about it.
Another good point is that since Iraq never attacked us, was there ever really a risk of them fighting us here? Out of one side of their mouth they laugh about the puny Iraqi army which is no match for our big strong 'Murikans, and out of the other side of their mouths they act like Iraqi tanks would be storming DC as we speak if the brave Chimperor hadn't attacked Iraq.
