Iraq Is Now a Terrorist Training Ground, CIA Says (Reuters)
Thank you Mr. Bush*, the whole world thanks you.
:sarcasm:

~snip~ WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The CIA believes the Iraq insurgency poses an international threat and may produce better-trained Islamic terrorists than the 1980s Afghanistan war that gave rise to Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda, a U.S. counterterrorism official said on Wednesday.

Once the insurgency ends, Islamic militants are likely to disperse as highly organized battle-hardened combatants capable of operating throughout the Arab-speaking world and in other regions including Europe. ~snip~

3. America or any other country would react the same if they had been invaded
and ravaged like their country has been by this Administration.

If you kill peoples families and children and cause great harm to innocent people you are going to enrage them. It would enrage ANY of us.

They arent terrorists.

They are individuals who are enraged and outraged at the injustices inflicted on them and their loved ones and are fighting back at those who have killed and murdered their families and friends.

5. The Iraq "war" is a tremendous disaster.
Corruption and incompetence on such an epic scale should shock all but the most hardened cynics. But people aren't getting the information that they need to understand the situation. (Insofar as they are even willing to try to understand the situation. After all, understanding isn't the neocon way. Neocons don't worry about reality, they create their own reality -- create it in their heads -- and in the voice of their echo machine.)

Even this piece, after writing some fairly grim stuff (the motivation for which can be read different ways) ends on a neocon fairytale note.

Look, when US in-theater commanders talk about political solutions and Iraqis doing the fighting (knowing that these forces are anything but ready), what these commanders are really saying is that they can't do much with the resources that they have... And following John Burns' (NYT) read that the Sunnis (Arabs) are thinking that they are a majority -- and can retake power by force (as I seem to recall from Charlie Rose), then there is little hope for the "political" process. (Myself, I think that the Sunnis are mistaken if they think that they can retake power as before. -- There will probably be plenty of Iranian "volunteers" (at least) to assist the Shia, once we leave.)

As things stand, we are not going to supply our commanders with the forces they should have had (and need now), nor can we even threaten this credibly without first starting up a draft -- and there is faint hope for the "political" process. So we must rely on the awesome mental powers of our neocon warlords to directly shape reality as a means of cleaning up this mess. (In practise, they can be expected to rely on that echo machine.)

In short, we're sinking... to the sounds of fiddle-playing coming from the high-command whorehouse... and to the stench of death's perfume.
