Why Stem Cells are important and can I sue Chimpy if he vetoes.
Hey everyone this happened just three hours ago. I was at Borders in Crystal Lake Il and I was having a major dopamine drop. So with stiffening legs and shakey hands I thought I head over to the cafe and get me a diet coke and some soup cup and take my medicine. The waitress that waitted on my said that the were out of mushroom soup - no big deal - and she said if i sat down shed give me a diet coke. Pretty nice so far right?

So anyway I sat down popped a miraprex and started feeling better when another guy ordered the same soup and got it right away.
Now I am more embarrased than angry because obviously she didnt want me to spill it on the floor or something and I can accept that if she wouldve just told me the truth. I also dont feel like making a scene at the store because I am a very reserved person. And didnt compalain. Note the borders in the town over will be getting my buisness for now.

However I decided to tell you this because it illustrates a small humilating example of what a parkinson's patient goes thru every day. (Let alone walking like the Boga that Ben Kenobi was ridding in return of the sixth and getting starred at continusly). The second reason why I am writting this is because while everyone is aware of the physical symptoms of parkinsons theres alot of psychological baggage that goes along with PD that is underscored.

And just think that not only is stem cell a potential cure for parkinsons patients but it can probably cure diabetes als and hemophilia as well . Just think of a world were hemophiliac kids dont have to give themselves injections and the finicial spiritual and emotional relief that it would bring to thier parents.

Now in my case theres no cure for parkinson's. The medicine slows the symptoms but the pain balance problems and shakeyness is still there. And the medicine has severe side effects as well but the point is this. My only hope for a cure is thru stem cell research both adult and embryonic. And I believe that no ones god government or religion has a the right to deny a cure to me and 1.5 million people in the world.

So since i pray and lobby for a cure and have all my hopes and dreams and prayers - yes i belive in Jesus- to let federal stem cell research go thru congress here's a question. If Chimpy does vetoe federal stem cell funding and all my hopes for a cure or gone can I sue him for causing me continued phyiscal and emotional pain? Probably not but it would be sweet if I could.

Thank you for your indulgence DU. I feel better for venting. You guys are awesome :) !!

1. Good luck to you!
I will add you to my prayers. My mother has Parkinson's as well. There are days when she can't untwist the bread tie to open the loaf.

We are waiting on South Korea, or another of the Asian countries to find the cure with stem cells, and we are on the first plane. My mother is a religious woman, to her this is not a religious matter, she is insulted that the current administration has turned it into one. She has been a nurse for over 40 years, and believes that religion and medicine can be mutually beneficial. She tells me that Jesus would not want her to suffer, he would heal her. Why can't the religious jealouts see that?

Perhaps a class action suit would work?

2. Tell your mom to hang in there
My heart goes out to anyone with this damn disease. I like your class action lawsuit idea I'll mention it at my next pd meeting. Are you and or your mother going to attend the parkinson's world congress in 06? We need all the bodies we can.

I don't really know much about the law, but I wanted to thank you for posting this. I don't think it's very often people who aren't suffering from Parkinson's or something else get this kind of insight.
I think empathy, being able to put yourself in the shoes of another, is one of the bigger things that separates US from THEM. I wish you luck and strength for the future, and I hope more people wake up to the hypocrisy that is preventing the single most able entity from helping the research.

There are days when the fight is not easy but knowing i got you guys on my side gives me the strength to get off the canvas. What was the line Alfred said in Batman Begins about falling? It escapes me at the momement.
