Body armor being recalled
Here's a link to the story on my local teevee newz:
http://wjz.com/localstories/local_story_173220028.html

I wonder how many of our guys in Iraq are wearing these? Not mentioned in the links tory, but mentioned on teevee is that these vests break down when exposed for prolonged periods to ....... perspiration.

Nice touch, fellas. Didja make a profit sellin' that shit to cops?

1. Last I heard, some 10,000 of our guys are wearing the defective armor.
Are they also recalling the deaths?

2. Answers:
The troops are not wearing this type of armor. It is Law Enforcement only.

The recall is not due to a failure of any vests. The problem is a potential failure of the vests if they are not maintained properly. Of course most Officers do not maintain them properly. This is a potential problem but no harm has come of yet.

This story is actually a little late. My department uses Second Chance vest and they replaced ours earlier this year. Actually, I am wearing one right now and I need to go or I will be late for work.

Peace

4. Hmm
I recall awhile back, that the private sector had donated money & armor (including law enforcement providing their "old" out of date stuff) when soldiers sent out word to family & friends about the lack of official issue gear.
Also, individuals buying their own; which still seems to be the case...

*Sorry - don't have links to verify at this time.

5. Yup, both statements of yours are true
Cops donated.

People bought their own.

I suspect some of this shit is in Iraq today, making some young kid more confident than he should be.

9. True but that was while the military was behind on supplying armor.
The military now uses the Interceptor personal armor. It affords alot better protection then Law Enforcement grade vests.

Vests are no longer a problem in the military. Now vehicles are a different story.

Also, that was a defective lot not the entire design itself.

3. Alas, our soldiers should feel much better...
Knowing our representatives are diligently working to end anti-American activity here in the grand ol' USofA with anti-flag burning legislation.
:sarcasm:
I'm sure they'll get around to soldier related issues in time for the next election cycle - just stay alive another year...

*If only we had a REAL press, with balls, to put the spotlight on this shit instead of the celebrity mishap du jour.

6. The "joke" way-back-when would have been "that's what you get with
the lowest bidder." Yet, the way the Pentagon overpays for everything from toilet seats to whatever, it doesn't seem to fit anymore.

My husband was telling me that a Marine colonel in Iraq was saying in an interview that the insurgents have found a means or way to defeat the additional reinforcements on the armored vehicles.

This is so disgusting that I'm amazed anyone in the military bothers to show up any more. This is soooo wrooooong.

But I bet the freepers are wondering why we aren't talking about the success stories; you know, like the new outhouse that just got built in Baghdad.
