CNN - tragic death of young woman using abortion pill - 7:50 EDT
They just showed this story of a teen who died from using the abortion pill. I just walked in on this so I will have to investigate further.

Anybody see this story?

1. What about the tragic death of the young woman who gave birth?
Happens every day of the year.

6. Yes, childbirth can be a risk, too. Clearly, women should just

stop having sex. :eyes:

2. Millions of women have used RU-486 and this would be the first
time someone has died because of it, if it's true (I think there was one death in France for which RU-486 was blamed, but that claim was later challenged successfully).

So, keep in mind, more men have died from Viagra than women from RU-486, but when a guy dies from Viagra, it doesn't get treated like this story is being treated.

3. Yeah, I agree
We need to have the facts to rebutt stories like this. So I'm going to do more research.

4. I read the story and from what I recall
she was an 18 year old girl who did not want to tell her parents. She took RU 486 at Planned Parenthood and took another dose three days later at home. She died of toxiciy associated with the miscarriage that follows.

There have been some incidents of this occurring with RU 486 but from what I recall those incidences are not terribly high although there have been other deaths in the US.

5. I saw it and they said it was the 2nd or 3rd US death from RU-486.

The 18 year-old took the drug at a Planned Parenthood clinic. I think it was a couple of days later that she was rushed to the hospital with bleeding and cramping. She was given painkillers and sent home but rushed back to the hospital a couple of days later. The second time, she was kept in the hospital and later died there. There will be an autopsy.

7. If abortion is outlawed, this will be far too common
it will be a jump back to the 19th century; back alley abortions and the like. This is such a sad story. But it's rare - unlike the way it used to be.

8. Aspirin can kill ... if ingested by the wrong person.
Viagra, too. It happens.

9. My impression is that the father of the girl has suggested this
I read and article about it that made that clear. But I think most news agencies are taking what a non-medically trained over-wrought father is saying about the death of his daughter as gospel. It seems like he's using the death of his daughter to further an agenda, and that's just sad.

10. I think that grieving parents can be forgiven much
or at least they should be. I don't think he's trying to further an agenda though others would use her death to further theirs.
