Two Democratic Senators up for re-election voted against the War in Iraq |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 11:13 PM by Radical Activist
Paul Wellstone and Dick Durbin. No other Democrat running for re-election that year had the courage to vote no.
So maybe all of you bashing Durbin should think about that and then shut the fuck up. This man is a national treasure that has proven himself and his courage over and over again.
Wellstone is dead. Durbin is the best we have left. Show some appreciation.

1. Maybe YOU forgot this is still AMERICA. We don't have to |
|
"shut the fuck up", although I guess nowadays to tell someone to "shut the fuck up" is totally "American".
Do something right; good.
Do something wrong, get called on it.

How noble to take a stand against censorship on a heavily moderated discussion board.
I don't like the fact that Durbin sort-of apologized but accusing him of being spineless or forgetting what he has done in the past is bullshit.

should shut the fuck up about everything wrong bush does?
We'd by hypocrites to say no, if we think everyone should just shut the fuck up about Durbin's screw-up because he'd done something right previously.
Either we all "just shut the fuck up" about Dems AND BUSH doing anything wrong or stupid, or we call them as they are. Dems AND bush.

Durbin is up for re-election in 2008. He quietly defeated Durkin in 2002. The Republicans thought they could confuse voters by running a guy with a similar name, but it didn't work.

4. I agree! I like him and hate that he was criticized so badly |
|
for something that needed to be said. But I know you never, ever say anything damn thing was as bad as the Nazi thing. But his comments were taken out of context as usual. When are we ever going to stop cowtowing to the repugs when they can say any damn thing they want and get away with it.

8. I love Durbin and am sorry this situation has been reduced |
|
to bashing. The man spoke from his heart and then apologized (because he was chastised by Dems sadly) to the folks he possibly insulted- - but not for what he said, which the repugs obviously contorted all out of context. I wonder, at this point, are WE making a bigger deal of this than it has to be, and why aren't "we" concentrating on more important issues?

10. Durbin learned a tough and costly lesson..... |

Don't overshadow the message. Politicians can't seem to say, "Look at this!" They're too busy saying, "Look at me!"

13. I wish he had not apologized. |

He should have turned it around on them & highlighted the issue further.
"I'll apologize as soon as Bush answers the DSM inquries- what's with all these demands?"- anything would have been better that the simpering back-down of his that I cant get out of my mind- sheesh!!!
