Why can Rethugs say they "misspoke" and all is forgotten?
Re the Durbin comment: How come when a Rethuglican makes a snarky remark, they brush it off (whether they actually apologize or not) with "I misspoke" and it's all as if it never happened? Yet Durbin's apology is cited by them as "not enough" and there are calls for censure & even removal? Why can't he use their tactic and just say "I misspoke"?

1. The Republican Noise Machine
They know how to keep these distractions alive, so they can keep people from looking at the real issues--such as torture.

2. Okay, then Monica Lewinsky "misblew"!
It's old news, nothing to get excited about. She was trying to extinguish a candle and things went awry. There is no evidence of a penis of mass destruction. Old news.
