Rove: Dems Didn't Get 9/11 Consequences
---------------------------------
By: SAM DOLNICK (Wed, Jun/22/2005)
NEW YORK -
---------------------------------

(snip)

"Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers," Rove said. "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war."

(snip)

Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for "moderation and restraint" after the terrorist attacks.

"Conservatives saw what happened to us on 9/11 and said we will defeat our enemies. Liberals saw what happened to us and said we must understand our enemies."

(snip)

"No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals," Rove said.

1. Rove just loves pitting people against each other
and further dividing the country.

This sort of behavior may be acceptable when you run a political campaign but when you are responsible for leading the country, such partisanship is totally inappropriate.

I for one am sick and tired of Rove's divisive bullshit.

3. Dem leaders should go to the core of the matter: attack Rove and ignore
Bush. Consistently. Hereafter. Relentlessly. He's running the country after all.

21. Rove IS Bush....
so by attacking Rove you take out two shitbirds with one stone. Bush wouldn't exist if not for Rove.

2. The f-ers better be glad we called for restraint
Rove might be very sorry he said that if the truth about 9/11 ever comes to the fore.

5. It was Bush, not Dems helping Bin Ladin relatives leave the U.S. swiftly
Karl Rove and Bush are such blatant liars. Despite the fact that most of the hijackers were Saudi Arabian, Bush chose to protect and reassure Saudis and help the Bin Ladin family to leave U.S. before they could be questioned. He certainly did not seem to advocate the investigation of any possible Saudi Arabian connections to the terrorism. As usual, Rove once again accuses Dems of something that Bush could be legitimately accused of doing.

9. Who Called For Moderation And Restraint?
Many of us all but lost our lunch and respect for Gephardt and Daschele when they all but tounge-kissed Bunnypants in the days after 9/11.

OK...so who called for restraint? No one I knew. In fact, many Democrats were as rabid as Repugnicans for rushing into Afghanistan and adopting the Northern Alliance. Who the hell is he fooling?

Of course Karl's game now is to divert the bad war news to Democrats. If we bitch about how this invasion was planned (DSM), how it's going (Gitmo) or where it's going (withdrawl resolution), we're painted as "traitors" and defeatists. And, when the time comes that we do have to withdraw and if it's another Saigon, 1975, we know who will get the blame then.

Problem is Democrats then were busy picking up the pieces of the Nixon messes and let the Repugnicans "grab the flag" which they haven't let go. Rove knows they can manipulate it...this mantra will play out on hate radio and TV food fights and the debate about the war goes from how it's been conducted or how it was planned to who is criticizing it.

Given the accrimony of the later, the corporate media is salivating at watching right and left fight it out over whose war this is and who lost it.

and was overcome with many emotions, hate being the strongest, a close second was vengeance.Sadly not only was it directed at the asshole terrorists, but also at the repuke party for it's "wag the dog" campaign against Bill Clinton when the big dog was trying to stop this shit before it got organized.Yes the first hits were on our watch and we were responding, now these self-righteous jerks hide behind a phony war,and call the Dem.party obstructionists.

11. I emailed every Dem Senator this morning and am
hitting the House after work. It is short and rough - but I am pissed and couldn't be diplomatic:

Please don't let them get away with saying things like this about Democrats. This man needs to apologize. I am tired of my leaders laying down and letting them run our party down on television. They DEMAND and GET apologies every time they hear something they can twist around to make Democrats look bad. Please stand up for me. This is DISGUSTING.

12. I think Dean can handle a response to Rove. But as for the rest of the
Dems, if someone has to tell them when and how to respond to the likes of Rove, then they are worthless and need to be voted out of office. Dems need to come to blows on the House and Senate floors.

13. The Democratic Response Will Be, Per Standard Operating Procedure:

You'll get someone like Biden who will say, "Hmmm.... I don't think Karl Rove has it completely right, but he raises an interesting point that we should perhaps study further."

Then you'll get someone like Schumer who will say something like, "Karl Rove shouldn't try to divide Republicans and Democrats by saying mean stuff about us" (?!).

Then, you'll have a Kerry type saying, "On September the eleventh the year two thousand and one, the American people confronted exigent circumstances to wit: the eradication of a number of edifices prompting a rejoinder from government which...."

Then, you'll have a Lieberman type say, "I think Karl Rove is completely right. Democrats suck ass."

And then you'll have a Howard Dean type who will say, "Karl Rove can shove it up his pasty white ass. Just because his dumbass monkey puppet of a president is too fucking stupid to see any nuance more subtle than 'blow em all up' doesn't mean that the whole world works that way, and if that lying piece of shit wants to tell me to my face that Democrats didn't care enough or understand the consequences about 9/11, I'll show that little worm a reasoned response."

And then Republicans and Democrats alike will do the one thing they can all agree on: rushing to the nearest camera and microphone to strongly denounce Howard Dean.

He should attack Bush strongly for the words his attack-dog Rove used.

He shouldn't stoop to dialoguing with Rove, the underling. Put the responsiblity on the boss-man's shoulders.

20. he's right you know
about us needing to understand the enemy, and them wanting to destroy them.

It's quite telling actually...

"Know your enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles, you will never be defeated. When you are ignorant of the enemy but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal. If ignorant both of your enemy and of yourself, you are sure to be defeated in every battle."

22. Very well said
You know, I 1/2 wish Rove was right, that Democrats (distinct from liberals) had been looking for the cause of terroism and how to fight it on a fundamental level, but as a party the knee jerk vote for war in Afghanistan, the PATRIOT ACT, and the war in Iraq show that Democrats and liberal thinkers part ways easily when it's politically efficatious or we're just scared shitless.

We're never going to defeat terrorism with bombs and torture camps.

Great quote from Sun Tzu!

lordy., what an attitude. i would like to see any of you take on the all powerful repugs the way the dems have in these last 6 months. and they get nothing but pissy from people on this board. and democrats at that. i am not a democrat and i can applaud their accomplishments and hard work a hell of a lot easier than what appears to be many "loyal" dems.

i am simply not getting this

so they have ignored EVERYTHING is you position. is this an exaggeration, or are you really suggesting in truth the dems have ignored everything. curious
