im watching the video on cspan right now as i didnt have a radio during the morning. i noticed before that he is twiddling his thumbs. and before he want into the sex trade he actually drummed the podium with his thumbs!! it was loud enough for the microphones to pick it up.
im remember classes like this in college. when they pan the audience some are slotching others doodling, holding their heads up.
and he said sad-damn earlier. he was getting antsy at the end, playing with the speech book through-out, you could see that sick little smirk that came when he thought he was going to make a big point but no one was buying.
goddess help us!!!

3. He has looked funny lately, some have said drunk, or stoned, but |
|
I think he is absolutely in over his head. The guy does not have a high IQ, nor a high work ethic (before being selected king of the US he spent his free time playing video games). Since 9/11 he has been very busy invading countries and trying to keep up with the spin. I suspect he's dazed and confused by everything. Also, his drop in the polls and the no-win situation he has created in Iraq must be making him feel a bit despondent and helpless. I don't have any idea how he's going to get out of this mess; in fact, he seems to get in deeper each day. Some have suggested Nixon as a parallel, and I suppose it's not completely outside the realm of possibility that he will have to resign before his term is up. Seems highly unlikely, but what in hell is going to happen to this mess of a person?

8. remeber his Dad's debate w/Clinton |
|
The one where the 3 candidates fielded questions from an audience? Bush was clearly uncomfortable with this format - relating to real people - and was caught on camera looking at his watch.
My mother pegged that moment as the end. She said "he doesn't really want to be president".
Let us all hope the same comes to pass for his spawn.

Okay, I've been out of the loop, didn't watch the speech--this has probably been covered here elsewhere--
How did the audience respond? Any applause at all?
Is anybody at the UN buying any of his crap?

Or maybe the UN just has the most fascinating ceiling - a lot of the delegates were staring at it. I swear at least one was dozing.
In contrast, Chirac's audience at least looks alive and animated.

13. WHAT audience response? |
|
lolly, the silence was deafening. He paused any number of times for what would have been, in any carefully-controlled US apperance, thunderous ovations and got nothing.
It was so embarrassing that CBS rushed in with video footage of Terra three times, as if to prop him up. (Memo to CBS: Burn in hell alongside CNN.) 14 seconds of polite applause greeted the end of his remarks.
Veganwitch, he's not bored. He's just having trouble maintaining his human shape!

14. Did you ever consider that he might be slipping into depression?? |
|
Seriously. He's been walking on air for 2 and a half years because he's been hailed as "the great one". All his appearances are fixed before chosen audiences so all he hears if cheers. And then "thud". He's not liked any more. He has to drive by protest signs. The papers are actually saying bad things about him and the tv commentators. Some Dems are beginning to make a name for themselves. He's being bashed by them, etc., etc. I think he's stewing and angry and can't figure out who to kill next (and I'm damn serious about that statement). And, that means he could very well be reaching for the booze. Drown yourself in it, you worthless sot.

he doesn't understand anything he can't read
he's going into the books as one of the worst "leaders of all time." even if he doesn't consciously know this, he surely can sense it. it probably makes him want to sleep. in Dubya's dreams, he hits home runs and eats pretzels without incident! such a evil moron!

20. not uncommon for spoiled guys who get handed jobs on a platter! |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-23-03 10:52 PM by Lisa
I noticed the same thing with Ontario Premier Mike Harris, just before he decided to quit. My reaction -- how dare these guys swan around as if they are God's gift to the electorate. They want "excitement"? The nerve! I was upset when Harris acted as if running Canada's biggest province was a drag ... no wonder Bush would be so dismissive about being the USA's head of state. It is a PRIVILEGE to serve the people, but Bush wouldn't understand that. He hates complicated, challenging problems ... trouble is, at the level of the President, they're ALL complicated, challenging problems.
Americans deserve better! Certainly better than him.
