Democrats Demand Retraction From Rove
Democrats are demanding that White House adviser Karl Rove immediately retract and apologize for comments that liberals responded to the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes by wanting to "prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."

"The one thing New York has had since Sept. 11 is unity," said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. "To inject politics into this and to defame a large number of people" is outrageous, he said. "It's not what New York and America is all about."

Rove, Bush's chief political adviser, said in a speech Wednesday that "liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers." Conservatives, he said in the speech to the New York state Conservative Party just a few miles north of Ground Zero, "saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared for war."

Rove said the Democratic Party made the mistake of calling for "moderation and restraint" after the terrorist attacks.

7. It only makes us appear even weaker to demand something that silly
The time to demand apologies, is when the affront is fresh,, This puts us the the "whiney category"..again..

I wish our side would hire some people to monitor these things as the occur, and start calling news conferences to slap down the republican goons.. They need to be put on notice, but not asked to own up to things they said YEARS ago..:P

8. Prepare indictments? Well, at least we wanted something done
All Bush did was spout out empty rhetoric and then suddenly forget about Osama when it was time to invade Iraq.

At least an indictment would have been something

9. Keeping the division going strong
As long as the Democrats and Republicans stay at odds, we cannot achieve the power we need to oust this administration. Karl's plan is to make sure we hate each other with a vengeance, so we can never come together.

11. What was Bill's quote from the convention?
They need the country divided. We don't.

I wasn't even paying complete attention back then, still shedding my sheepleness, and I remember that speech as being like a cannon being fired.

So true. They do need us divided.

What a little turd that man is. Ratfucker extraordinary and dares to then talk about moral values. Sick little bastard.

I don't like him. Can you tell?

10. Rove will never apologize.
When repubs demand apologies of dems, even if it is for something said which is irrefutably true, dems invariable step up and offer apology.

Not so of repubs. When was the last time a repub publicly apologized for a slur, lie, or character assination of a dem? Honestly, I can't remember...

12. this is PERFECT!-
but it won't get the press it should-

i was pissed at the 'unity' shown after 9/11, especially all the "kudo's to the King" that the Dems were displaying, but indeed, there was nothing but support, and only a lone voice spoke up against the majority- and she was castigated for it.-

We can demand an apology- and a retraction, but even if it is given, it won't be genuine, because Mr. Rove isn't a man of consience- and he uses people to get what he wants.

But the pointing out of the hyprocricy and lies by the Dems is great-

Shout it out- everyone- we have to 'be the news'

14. Fuck a retraction - an apology and resignation letter, nothing less
I pay that son of a bitch's salary (gag)

How dare he. I don't want moderation and restraint.

I want the goddam war profiteers in jail.

I want the liars in this adminstration convicted of each and every one of their crimes including conspiracy to commit murder for every single veteran that doesn't come home from this 'war' because they had a vision of how the world should be run according to what their fucking campaign donors told them to do.

I want every single Democrat (and Republican for that matter) that claims to represent 'the people' to demand that motherfucker's political head on a platter and I will donate time and effort and money to any campaigns that I can for any opponent who runs against any one of these phony politicians that WON'T support US from attacts like KKKarls.

18. We need to shutdown the Senate!
Mark my words, if we don't cause a shitstorm due to Rove's statements, his comments will soon become GOP talking points, then the press will report them as basic truth, and then they'll become conventional wisdom.

The only leverage we have to create such a shitstorm is shutting down the Senate. We need to do that until Rove apologizes or is fired by Bush. After a few days of NO Senate work advancing, Dems should say they will agree to a reasonable compromise: that being a unanimous Senate Resolution condemning Rove's remarks and rebuking Bush for refusing to fire him for failing to apologize.

If/when any repug senator votes against such resolution, we go back to shutting down the Senate.
