5. I can remember when America was deathly afraid of brainwashing.
Then proceeded to spend decades lathering up the old cerebellum, etc.

8. Great Jefferson quote. Here's a few more quotes
though not by Jefferson:

The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory. -- Howard Zinn

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice...Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of- country stance - how violently I hate all this; how despicable and ignoble war is...I would rather be torn to shreds than be part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder." --Albert Einstein

"Truth, crushed to earth, shall rise again, - -
The eternal years of God are hers;
But Error, wounded, writhes in pain,
And dies among his worshippers."

There is nothing more frightening than active ignorance.
-- Goethe

6. two fake elections, 911, and an illegal war.......
destruction of the environment, government pandering to religious fanatics, stealing social security,........

the list goes on and on and continues to grow....

still nobody really taking to the streets. if americans haven't gotten off their asses yet, i doubt they ever will. the fascists in power know this so watch them continue to roll. it's tragic, but the sweetest thing will be watching the freepers get smashed when the government they worship starts to crush them under their boots.

7. I say three months, maybe six
I think the anti-war demonstrations in the late Summer/early Autumn are going to be huge.

Let there be no doubt: we are not opposing the regime; we are resisting the regime.

10. Absolutely NOT until things affect them personally!
I know several people at work who were extremely pro Shrub, and when we would ask WHY, the answer was always abortion and gay marriage. Well, our pay has been cut 30%, the co is teetering on bankruptcy, the congress voted in favor of the banks in the bankruptcy bill, and there are quite a few folks who are NOW feeling the negative pressure of this Shrub administration. Well, guess what? They now support the Dems! They are finally saying, wow, you guys were right all along!

Of course, we can't help say "I told you so!"

12. When either gas goes to $5 a gallon or the military starts a draft
whichever comes first, but one will probably happen by next year.

13. Give it some more years
By 2008, I suspect this country may (or may not) be convulsing in the streets the same way anti-war protesters shook the nation in 1968, exactly 40 years prior.

I'm assuming the war drags out for that long, and I assume conditions on the ground in Iraq will remain roughly the same regardless of what happens in Baghdad or what the folks in the Green Zone say.
