1. When you figure it out, let me know
Here in Seattle we have
KVI-570 - All right wing, all the time. Hosts: Some local. Some national.
KIRO-710 - Fairly broad spectrum. Hosts: All local
AM-770 - All right wing, all the time. Hosts: Mostly national
AM-1300 - Republican Radio all the time. Hosts: Mostly national

It would seem like there is only so much Viagra and hair replacement products you can sell!

2. If these shows weren't pulling ratings
they wouldn't be on. But I suspect most radio listeners are males above age 30 and this group is mostly conservative.

3. The same in Los Angeles
I think it's because normal people have something better to do than listen to crap on the radio.

6. Advertisers stay with them even if the ratings are low.
Right-wing propaganda talk radio is so diversified now, they can stay in weak markets.Because they are so strong in their strong markets. Also this is a campaign by the right. If it makes money great, but there's so much money involved they can afford to break even or lose money most of the time.

Where I live it's a pretty small media market. The station that carries Limpdick Doesn't get many listeners. It must not cost no whole hell of alot to be a Limpdick affilate,or they couldn't justify carrying him.So that just leads me to believe that the so-called EIB network will go on your station for pratcally free. They bring their national sponsors and most corprate types are conservitives,so many local companies sign on to advertise. Not for the benefit of getting more business, but rather using it as a vehcile for spreading their own idealogoy.

7. Because there is a market for it
just because it is a mostly liberal area dosent mean there isnt a sizable conservative listening audience, I remember when I was stationed at Cal Berkley, I saw a whole bucha conservatives at BERKLEY for crying out loud, and conservatives tend to listen to talk radio more....that and...well clear channel.

11. I got into a 45 minute "debate" w/ the GM at WLS in Chicago
I called his office about their station censoring the only liberal radio show that they carry (on Sunday afternoons) at the onset of the war. I kept asking him how it was that WLS, which is in an overwhelmingly Democratic area, really offers nothing but Hannity, Rush, and the local wing nuts? All those Democrats have nothing to listen to with a few exceptions. I asked him if older white males really bought that much stuff for them to be so catered to.

Let me take this opportunity to mention one of my favorites. http://www.thisishell.net

Local Northwestern University Radio show airing on Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM till ? (depends on football) Truly excellent LIBERAL radio.
