7. Thats alright because... |
|
WGBH Boston produces most of the content on PBS including Sesame Street, Frontline, Buster - they have sent a letter condemning Mr. Tomlinson and asking for his termination - my feeling is that WGBH simply won't produce such right wing programming as directed and they are pretty much solvent on their own so if their funding were cut, they would be minimally impacted. WGBH is on scale (size wise) as ESPN, they're huge.

9. Could WGBH be booted from the channel that they currently |
|
broadcast on? If that channel is set aside for PBS, and GBH refuses to bow to the powers that be, could they get booted from their channel? Could we see the programs that they want to develop being forced to go to other networks to be aired?
I support PBS as much as I can. I know many here in MA that do. But can we do it so well and maintain the stream of funds so that they won't have to compromise? I sure hope so.

13. Wonder if the board was told: Confirm Tomlinson's choice, |
|
and we'll restore your funding. http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8333144/My guess is that, unfortunately, MoveOn's petition had little to do with it.

6. Does that mean Tucker Carlson gets his old gig back? |
|
:eyes: I'm sorry but I can't get too excited about 100 million now going to a GOP controlled PBS.

10. Every few years the House |
|
does something nasty to CPB funding.
In the years when they do so, there's a massive campaign by CPB and its supporters to have the money reinstated.
The Senate or a conference committee comes along and reinstates almost all of it. It really doesn't matter who's in charge in the Senate.
There is a track record here. I paid close attention the first time I saw it happen. I noted it the second time I saw it happen. I don't know if this is the third or eighth time I've lived through it.
