Against capital punishment? What if Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld et al
were convicted of war crimes?

Not that I expect this would ever come about. Nonetheless, I would stick by my beliefs and still oppose capital punishment.

My only hope would be that they would be imprisoned in Gitmo or Abu Ghraib under the same guidelines (or lack thereof) they they themselves approved for others who have been and are still there.

for the rest of their lives.

2. Still oppose capital punishment.
Even if they were the convicted murderers that faced the sentence.

They will not rob me of my values or of my religious beliefs. They don't deserve either and they aren't that powerful. :argh:

12. "... they aren't that powerful." ???
Okay, but please try repeating that to me when they come to get you and use a cattle prod to alter your belifes of truth, justice and the American way.

Just shout it out. I'll probably be in the nearby cell.

13. I'll shout it out!
They are not that powerful!

Paraphrasing Robert Loggia's character in A Jagged Edge "Fuck 'em, they're trash!"

And hell, with the tasers being assigned to every cop these days, we won't have to wait for the cattle prodding in the camps. They will be using those devices at the next big peace rallies.

20. I don't know how old you are, but I hope you never have to learn
the hard way that you don't have a clue as to what you're saying.

About all I can suggest is for you to go to a veteran's hospital and try to find some people who were tortured. Talk to them. Close your mouth. Learn.

21. It's not going to get to that so just stop your assine
silliness.

And if it does, I would rather die than give up my values or who I am.

So if the world turns as you predict, consider me one of the martyrs for the cause. :patriot:

5. Prison would be hell for them -- but if there was justice
they'd have a secret flight to an undisclosed country where they hate us for our freedoms.

9. They belong in Gitmo
Capital punishment is wrong, but Ï can sympathize with "street justice" when dealing with fascist rulers like Mussolini and Busholini.

10. Heck. Just let them go.
Take them to the Green Zone. Put them in one of their under-armored Humvees with G.I. flak vests (not the $600 upgrades they expect parents to pay for) and strap that damned statue of Saddam they're so proud of to the roof of the Humvee.

Tell them that after they've delivered the statue to Prince Bandar they're free to go.

17. Now that's a good idea
I guess Cheney will not get anymore deferments, and Bush will see some action other than guarding the coast of Texas from Charlie.

14. Forget capitol punishment!! PUBLIC HUMILIATION!!!
Put them all in those wooden things that held fast your head and hands. Let all the people of the world that they've f*cked over stroll past and call them liars, cheats and war mongers, throw animal (or human if you prefer) feces in their faces, and maybe some can kick their asses, literally. I think that *, Cheney, Rummie, all of them, should be subject to this for as many days as it takes until our soldiers come home from Iraq.

18. Those wooden things were called stocks.
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 02:45 PM by Cyrano
And if you stop to think of it, people had their heads and hands locked into position so they couldn't move, with their asses sticking up in the air.

Now just give a moments thought to these puritans of old and think how many of them didn't make a nighttime visit down to someone locked in a stock.

Be insulted if you'd like, stick your fingers in your ears, but if you think what I'm talking about didn't go on back then, I have some Iraqi WMDs to sell you.
