and videos. Bet that's why the crazed sustained partisan attacks coming from the bush Admin.
They're very afraid. They should be. The coming releases of torture not even Rush the pigboy will be able to laugh off as "frat house pranks".
Cover your ears if you have the stomachs to watch the videos; the screams of the children being beaten and sodomized will scar your souls forever.

By going to favorite tactic: 9/11 exploitation. Although I have a feeling that when we eventually know more about what led to 9/11, they won't even be able to fall back on that one anymore.

We ARE here and you WILL hear us! I promise you that! If the polls are any indication as of late, it looks like a 70%/30% ROAR! Almost all of the polls on the cable news channels (policy, Iraq war, domestic issues) indicate that these numbers are pretty much the average response of the American people.
peace.

ruling recently that the videos and pictures from Abu Ghraib (I don't know if that included any from Guantanamo Bay) cannot be suppressed.
During the hearings on Abu Ghraib last year, the Senate Committee worried about them being released and discussed maybe, releasing them all at once, since 'the media would probably release them anyway'. But, after the Nick Berg video came out (just in time) the hearings ended.
Before they did, Senators were shown them. Sen. Lindsey Graham was horrified and said so to Cheney who tried to make light of the issue. He told Cheney 'Let us do our job, Mr. VP, we're talking about rape and murder here'.
Sy Hersch said that they show the abuse of children and AIRC, they were seen in Europe for a while, and I believe, after viewing them, Norway decided to withdraw its troops. Europeans are still subject to the ICC. I may be wrong about Norway, but one of the smaller European countries.
If they are released and the media shows them, even Republicans know that will be the end of the pretense about gourmet chicken etc.
I don't know if we ever will see them, though, the media will probably be threatened and called traitors for doing so while the 'troops are in danger'. Although some foreign press may do so. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Maybe if they stopped lying, told the truth, shut down the gulags and apologized, I would say 'don't show them'. But they continue to lie, so I don't know.

24. 'You haven't begun to see evil...' Sy Hersh |
|
"Some of the worst things that happened you don't know about, okay? Videos, um, there are women there. Some of you may have read that they were passing letters out, communications out to their men. This is at Abu Ghraib ... The women were passing messages out saying 'Please come and kill me, because of what's happened' and basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys, children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. And the worst above all of that is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror. It's going to come out." -Sy Hersh
"The American public needs to understand we're talking about rape and murder here." -Sen. Lindsey Graham (R)
The unrevealed photos and videos contain acts "that can only be described as blatantly sadistic, cruel and inhuman." -Rumsfeld
"I’m gravely concerned that many Americans will have the same impulse as I did when I saw this picture, and that’s to turn away from them. And we risk losing public support for this conflict. As Americans turned away from the Vietnam War, they may turn away from this one unless this issue is quickly resolved with full disclosure immediately." -Sen. John McCain (R)
"What we saw is appalling," -Bill Frist (R)
"There were some awful scenes. It felt like you were descending into one of the rings of hell, and sadly it was our own creation." -Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D)

34. As much as I want these photos/tapes released... |
|
...in order to put the lid on the neo-Conmen once and for all, I fear that if they are in the possession of the Corporate Media, their "release" will be a gross whitewash. We mustn't forget that the courts have ordered their release so the holders of these images must comply, but the courts didn't say how that compliance must be met.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1575343Okay, I know it looks of topic, but look at the rules---And read the whole thread. Could these new rules be just in time to make it illegal to show the photos? Are they making the new censor rules to make sure we can't get a hold of the photos? Read the whole thread. Does this apply? If it does it would make it illegal to pass and distribute the photos.

How would the release of images of torture by US military in any way obviate the necessity for a draft?
It would tend to have the opposite effect, no?

Why don't "they" just release the photos and videos without saying "it's coming". This just gives BushCo more time to react and then hit us with another disaster, beheading, or whatever it takes to get America's eye off the ball.
