RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman Statement on the Democrat Attacks of Karl Rove

To: National Desk

Contact: Tracey Schmitt of the Republican National Committee, 202-863-8614

WASHINGTON, June 23 /U.S. Newswire/ -- "It's outrageous that the same Democrats who stood by Dick Durbin's libeling of our military are now expressing faux outrage over Karl Rove's statement of historical fact. George Soros, Michael Moore, MoveOn and the hard left were wrong after 9/11, just as it was wrong for Democrat leaders to stand by and remain silent after Dick Durbin made his deplorable comments." (RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman)

Liberal Third Party Groups Urged Restraint, Blamed America:

Immediately After 9/11, MoveOn.Org Petition Urged "Moderation And Restraint" And Use Of "International Judicial Institutions."

-- "We, The Undersigned, Citizens And Residents Of The United States Of America ... Appeal To The President Of The United States, George W. Bush ... And To All Leaders Internationally To Use Moderation And Restraint In Responding To The Recent Terrorist Attacks Against The United States." (MoveOn.Org Website, "MoveOn Peace,"

5. Let me see if I understand what he is saying.
He is saying it is incredible that we should be offended by an offensive statement. Rove's statement targeted Democrats, trying to make it look like we could of cared less about 9-11. I for one am tired of this administration's use of 9-11 whenever it suits their political agenda. Shame on Rove, he needs to be fired....

7. jackass
Notice how Democrats "attack", while I suppose the GOP attacks on Durbin were simply honest responses to his 'libeling of our military'.

We can NOT allow these evil, crooked bastards to frame the debate. We need to keep pounding away at Rove and his immoral statements.

15. Yes we do
He attacked half the country. Let him deal with the outrage. I am listening to Ed Schultz who just had a raving freeper on agreeing with Karl Rove.

Ed Schultz has been pretty good on the Durbin issue and on this.

Karl Rove insulted every Democrat who ever gave their lives for this country!! There aren't words fit to print to describe this little worm who never set foot on a battlefield.

I am thinking right now of liberals I know who are currenting serving in the US army and I am outraged that this cowardly, non-serving piece of garbage isn't behind bars for his role in the Valerie Plame case, just to mention one reason he needs to keep his mouth closed.

Liberals wanted to 'offer therapy and understanding' to terrorists. Make him prove those words!!

9. That was fast. Looks like they had the Catapault all wound up.
And they used the biggest bag of shit in the sling.
Launch it back guys and give Durbin the priviledge of smacking the trigger.
Recommend rubber gloves and goggles though, the last load was all wet.

beer salesbabe daughter being "outed" on the Teevee.

that's faux outrage.

I'm genuinely pissed at Rove's lies about my representatives post 9/11, and if Rove and Dickless Cheney want to see up close and personal just how pissed off I am, I'd be glad to demonstrate in person.

12. immediately?????? bull shit
i'd like to see him prove that-

there was nothing 'immediate' about it-

i was wishing there were, but believe me, in the days immediately following 9/11 there was nothing but frightening unity.

lies

lies

lies

13. They Are Calling It The Full Durbin
Meaning Rove is getting what Durbin got, and maybe more, cause Rove implied 3000 people died and the Democrats wanted to analyze it. Democrats died on 9-11 and Democrats are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Rove needs to be fired.....

"the hard left were wrong after 9/11... " What were they wrong about? Huh? They think they can just throw around names and not make logical arguments....

Man they are getting so nervous.. I know we are all pissed and stuff especially when Durbin was NOT calling them Nazis... he was saying it may appear like the actions of Nazis... try and run this statement by most of the world and BINGO.... Durbin looks like the most righteous individual in our government....

like I said they are so nervous....

16. Sounded to me like Rove was slurring everyone...
in the Democratic party, not just the "looney-lefties." The party which, by the way, includes a lot of our men and women fighting overseas. Oops, looks like Rove forgot about that small point.

Mehlman's attempt to rewrite and revise Rove's statement just won't cut it.

18. Concentrate on Roves calling Sen. Durbin a traitor.
Rove's statement that Sen Durbin made his remarks (on Gitmo) to put our troops in danger is just about the most inflammatory statement possible. He should be made to publicly eat those words. Even if the Dems shut down the Senate. There should be no quarter given on this. Enough is enough!
