Ever get tired of smashing your head into a wall? Don't!
"The only kind of fights worth fighting are those you are going to lose, because somebody has to fight them and lose and lose and lose until someday, somebody who believes as you do wins. In order for somebody to win an important, major fight 100 years hence, a lot of other people have got to be willing - for the sheer fun and joy of it - to go right ahead and fight, knowing you’re going to lose. You mustn’t feel like a martyr. You’ve got to enjoy it." I.F. Stone

I might change "going to lose" to "willing to lose" or "likely to lose"...but for the most part any struggle truly worth its weight requires struggle, and rarely is anything that requires a stuggle won the first time out. There are almost always people before you that fought your fight and got stomped by the Iron Heel, or by some jackass on a zoning commission, it doesn't matter. Being one to lose, when this is necessary for ultimate good, is both exhillerating as well as exhausting, and for some tragic...To us perhaps...However they chose that path.

The fight against Racism is a great example, little victories (Sometimes appearing to be Great victories) can be seen everywhere, however nobody in their right mind believes that Racism has been defeated.

People have asked me why I keep banging my head against the wall of conservatism and Corpo-Crony-Capitalism when it's obvious that "real" change, something that topples Hamilton's Rich Rule All model, is perhaps generations in the future or maybe next year, who knows:shrug:

Because I enjoy it? Damned straight I do.

Oh forget "willing" and "likely", I'll take GOING!

2. Sometimes
I think I was born for this. Small, frustrating battles on the homefront. Large, frustrating battles nationally. Still, it does give meaning to your life and it certainly keeps me from being bored. Can't say I have learned to enjoy it yet though.

4. I thought the same thing when I first read it.
Then I recalled marching with tens of thousands of like minded people before the Iraq Invasion and remembered the absolute thrill of being there.

It's a tragedy that we failed, but we fought.

3. From one deontologist to another: Bravo.
I'll be voting for the "unelectable" fellow next time ... because, eventually, such people must be electable if we're to survive.

5. Hey, JM!
The way I see it, capitalism probably has mere months to live - perhaps as little as two months. The real change is about to occur. It should be quite a ride.

10. I only accept apologies...
...accompanied by large quantities of Makers' Mark.

Or when apologies are offered - which ever is more convenient for the other person. :)

18. Margo has worked out surprisingly well.
Part of that is probably because there is far less discussion of religion on my board than at Wasteland. Politically, she's quite the leftist. :)

20. I know, I know, but man she could get annoying with her say everything...
...and nothing at the same time debate technique.

I suppose I should give her a ring now that I'm within earshot of her neck of the woods...

21. You really should.
I've called her. She's very nice. Anyone who can listen to me for the amount of time that she did is patient, to say the least. :D

9. No stopping the fight, here.
I want to take it to where they commit their crimes - broadcast media and in the voting machines.

11. Never.
A friend and colleague of 20+ years described me recently with one word:

"Tenacious."

I don't back down, I don't give up, I don't stop working for truth and justice, ever. I've been the Lone Wolf, personally and professionally, for a lifetime. I'm fine with that.

19. Might as well enjoy the fight....
because as long as there's one Diebold voting machine left standing in this country, we will never see a President elected by the American people again....
