A bush-sypathizing relative told me today to "be careful what I write"
It was a revalation. I'm still stunned.

She was giving me every reason why this war - which she hasn't ever really supported - isn't really bush's fault, and that Democrats may have tricked him into it.

Don't get me wrong, this person is truly patriotic, loves this country, and is increasingly agreeable with me on the wrongness bush's war.

So we were talking about that war, and I said he lied, he misled, he's swimming in a river of the blood of innocents, and that I was putting together a detailed response to someone else who claimed bush didn't lie, and that I could show that he did.

And then she said, "be careful what you write, because they will come and get you."

:wow:

We talked a little about what America and freedom mean, but the conversation drifted, and we were soon talking about other things.

Support bush in spreading "freedom" while watching your step at home.

Just shocked me. Thought I'd share.

1. Yeah, it's not his fault but
"they will come to get you".

Does this person realize the paradox of that?

15. yeah, I think she did
realize the paradox by the time we were thru talking.

I think she began to wonder how she had come to proclaim such things to be true. I believe some introspection was/is taking place.

2. Did she see any problem with the whole 'come and get you' thing
or is that ok in republicans eyes now.

The very fact that she is warning you should say a lot about the rethug party and those who are in it.
Could it be saying that they are :scared:shitless or that they are ignorant and don't care enough to try to right the wrong...

I've got a few rethug relatives and I've disowend their ignroant koolaid drinkin asses

10. Woman should be damn grateful that men like Thomas Payne weren't
afraid intimidated over 200 years ago.

Thomas Jefferson was not averse to revolution when and if it was necessary. I do believe that he recommended it periodically. There are different types of revolution. Peaceful, and they kind up which this country was founded.

I wonder what kind we're headed for?

14. It does
"The very fact that she is warning you should say a lot about the rethug party and those who are in it. "

I think it told her a lot about the republican party that she didn't really want to realize. Balloons were popped.

Ask her if she will be the one who turns you in for your Constitutionally protected speech. Suggest she go read up on totalitarianism.

8. What inside track, if any, does she have?
This administration has "not to be trusted" written all over it - in flashing neon lights.

As for "the Democrats tricked him" into attacking Iraq, now I've heard everything.

Don't be shocked, but do take everything your friend tells you with a grain of salt. Geesh.

11. Tim Robbins on AAR today - 'Freedom of speech is like a muscle,
you either use it or you lose it.' (Paraphrase).

Jerry Springer was remarking that he admired Robbins for speaking out against the war, but knew that Robbins' career has suffered for it. Robbins quickly objected, stated that his career was doing great, and then made the remark above.

Tim & Susan: :yourock:

18. I was gonna say..Tim Robbins has
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 08:26 PM by zidzi
been doing great in his career and his life.

Springer needs to bone up on what Tim has been up to since the big brouhaha at the baseball hall of infamy that disinvited him to speak on the 10th anniversary of Bull Durham because of his anti-War On Iraq stance.

I'm proud to say that I helped picket that place in April, 2003,in the rain, to let our feelings for Freedom of Speech be known.

Good for Tim and Susan!

"TIM ROBBINS: Thank you. And thanks for the invitation. I had originally been asked here to talk about the war and our current political situation, but I have instead chosen to hijack this opportunity and talk about baseball and show business. (Laughter.) Just kidding. Sort of.

I can't tell you how moved I have been at the overwhelming support I have received from newspapers throughout the country in these past few days. I hold no illusions that all of these journalists agree with me on my views against the war. While the journalists' outrage at the cancellation of our appearance in Cooperstown is not about my views, it is about my right to express these views. I am extremely grateful that there are those of you out there still with a fierce belief in constitutionally guaranteed rights. We need you, the press, now more than ever. This is a crucial moment for all of us."

22. Wow - thanks for picketing and thanks for sharing
Robbins' statement "I can't tell you how moved I have been at the overwhelming support I have received from newspapers throughout the country in these past few days." That's nice - journalists did something right. Now, how do we get them to express their outrage about other incidents in which free speech is squelched (that don't involve baseball)?

21. Let them come!
:wtf: What she said about you watching what you write because 'they will come and get you' didn't give her pause? I mean, really? Is that cool with her? Doesn't she as an American have a problem with that? Never mind what else she said, which btw was bushit! She should be concerned that any American who choses to exercise their first amendment rights would have to fear speaking out! And the Democrats didn't trick bush into war! He lied his ass off to Congress and the American people! That much is a fact! She needs to deal with that! Stupid is as stupid does!

24. My Anti Bush Tshirt
I wore this before the election where I used to live (very nice area)and always got very positive comments on it.

I wore it yesterday to the grocery store where I now live (less affluent). The woman at the register stopped in the middle of ringing up my order to say, "I don't like your shirt." I said nothing to her in response except to smile as hard as I could. She then said to me, "Well, maybe I shouldn't be saying that." I just kept smiling at her and not saying a word the entire time she bagged the groceries.

As I was pushing my cart out the door, she waved at me and smiled, "Have a nice day." I just smiled back at her.

Damn, she KNEW I was right. lol
