TIMETABLE: SIX MORE YEARS IN IRAQ
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 09:14 PM by cynatnite
NEW YORK -- The words are almost always the same: "threat" ... "atrocities" ... "secret intelligence" ... "mission" ... "preventive" ... "fog" ... "brave" ... "terrorists" ... "Support our troops" ... "Stay the course" ... "waste"... "treason" ... "timetable" ... "withdraw" ... "tragedy."

It usually takes about nine years to say them all. Americans said them about Vietnam between 1964 and 1973. The Soviets said them about Afghanistan from 1979 to 1988. Judging by that recent history, we will be in Iraq for six or even more years. It will be a "tragedy" when we leave in 2012.

1. The tragedy is that we are there in the first place
That American and Iraqi blood have been spilled for ShrubCo's little Blood and Oil bath was a tragedy the moment before the first drop of blood hit the ground. I hope like hell you are wrong and it does not take 9 more years to unf*ck the clusterf*ck that Curious George in the Flight Suit has made.

2. Nixon barely won in 1968
and obviously Dems still retained control of congress. Bush and his ilk will never see justice. So at the very least I want political victory in 2006 and or 2008. Will it happen? Will non pro-empire candidates prevail?
