What is a Independent voter? Stupid Double speak is all. You have to vote for someone so there are no "Independent voters"! The real stat is how many Americans feel stupid for voting for Bush! Forget the facts that in close states the repubs STOLE votes but for the numbers to be that close anyone who voted Bush should be hunted and beaten in the streets!!!!

14. An "Independent" voter is someone who votes for the PERSON

and not the Party. I am one. Locally I have some good Republican folks in positions like Sheriff, County Executive, etc., as well as Democratic Senators with whom I am usually happy. I have *NEVER* supported GWB, EVER. Before the Republicans pulled their little "impeach Clinton" thing (which was the first and probably ONLY time I ever voted a Straight Democratic Ticket), it used to be possible to believe that folks of good conscience could hold different views on how to run things, and it was nice to have a dialog going on about different techniques....

Then the Republicans went insane, or maybe I just got better educated, or heaven knows what happened, but they put GWB up for President, and anyone who did more than five minutes of research knew that this man IS NOT the best our country has to offer. I am convinced the "national level" Republicans are corrupt TRAITORS TO AMERICA -- but I still supported my local Sheriff, who I think does a great job.

We "Independents" aren't good at being team players. I have been flirting with the idea of changing my party affiliation, but am not convinced its the "best" thing yet.

That being said, I should probably add that for the first time EVER in my life, I volunteered for a political candidate -- Kerry. I also helped investigate election fraud, and I know EXACTLY what the Democrats did -- AND DIDN'T -- do. Its one more reason I'm not sure I can join the party....

17. So why does this matter when they control congress and wh? Because

the republicans in congress still put preserving their own political hides as the number one priority. Any senator in a state that is not DOMINATED with republican voters - has to begin to get a little worried, each time the bushco comes acalling - especially since their moves in the past couple of months have NOT been supported by the public. Okay to look like a puppet when the public supports the actions. Not okay when the public starts to question the credibility and motives of the puppeteer.

Note three or four months ago congressional gop and their strategists started talking about ... that they could lose congress... a big switch from talk in say, Jan 2005. Now that talk could have been to push up fundraising and circle the wagon - but in the past three months since that talk began... the public support has further waned from bushco - but bushco remains to bully its agenda through - and make congressional reps look bad.

Smell it? Fear among GOP in Congress. It won't get bushco impeached - but it will weaken bushco from being able to get their full agenda through and with each loss - bushco becomes more sitting/lame duck. And from what we know of bushco.. they never back down or like to lose - they never admit loss or defeat or being wrong - so bad news for GOP in congress as bushco will do what it did to Frist earlier this week - keep pushing congress to carry its unpopular water - and make the gop in congress - who dominate both houses - look like sitting lame ducks, as well.
