1. Cheney is running interference for the President |
|
The President does not explain, he states, Cheney has to get out there and soften public opinion for the President.

2. I Was Just Going To Start A Thread About This.... |
|
My personal belief is that they are FINALLY beginning to feel THE HEAT!!
They are seeing that many people aren't buying they're lies as easily as before. Trying to put a GOOD face on Iraq and trying to FUZZ the issues AGAIN!!!!
I can only hope that more of the public has gotten wise to their CORRUPT Ways!!!!

3. Somehow they don't seem to realize that the "context" has changed |
|
for nearly three years - he (bush, condi, etc.) could say the most outrageous and false things - and somehow grab back control of stories that they had lost spin power over.
They don't yet get that the rules on the ground has changed. The public is growing cynical and they are losing credibility. He doesn't get that while he scared people with statements about mushroom clouds three years ago, that now his words come out as "Oh, come on... we know better..." This is beyond playing to a diehard base - or a big miscalculation about how large that base is (in which case this would be to "rally the base".) This is Cheney showing his arrogance and his sheer contempt for the intelligence of the American public. Thing is, he doesn't yet realize that each time he speaks in terms that are so patently absurd and ridiculous, that he helps pull down the shroud of "respectability/statesmanship" that the media helped him pull up to cover his utter contempt for the public.

5. Furthermore, Cheney is a megalomaniac |
|
remember him... the dude put in charge of finding the best VP candidate for bush... who searches high and low and comes back with... "It's Me!"
Dude who regularly challenges congress just to show that he is more powerful and to keep people cowed.
Dude who made regular trips to the CIA in the war buildup to help manage the whole intelligence collection/cherry picking/block out anything that contradicts) thing and to intimidate analysts.
I don't think it is a matter of "they" putting him out there. He can't be managed - he sees himself as the Real Guy. He only went along with the hiding thing after 911 - because the initial response (not to worry that bush was out running away.. I was in the WH and in control the whole time) really DID damage he and bush's ability to capitalize on the event. If every one saw the pres as a weak coward who wasn't up to the job - they wouldn't last long at all.

9. So More Reason For Us To Keep BLOGGING! |
|
Let the LAPDOGS know that we are SICK of their PANDERING!!
This is a humongous undertaking though. They have the bucks, we only have us!! And the old adage "MONEY Talks, SHIT Walks" is a hard one to tamp down. But we here at DU and other sites like this one have caught the attention of many. I just heard this AM that CNN is canceling several political shows. They already dumped Crossfire, and I think I heard Inside Politics is on the chopping block. Capital Gang is already going too! MSNBC has lost a lot of it's viewership so they are begging to feel the crunch!
It's About FRIGGIN time!! Now we need WOLFIE to GO!!!! Oh yes, Tweety too! And let's work on Mr. Bow Tie, Tucker even though he's new to the game. Scarborough would be an added bonus. Oh let's go for Dennis Miller and all the others at FAUX!

8. It's his affect and his 'gravitas" |
|
The media has always swooned over his calm, cool, collected demeanor and his appearance of being un-ruffled and full of wisdom. He never shouts or raises his voice...he only sneers a bit out of one side of his mouth.
The media thinks he has wonderful, mature judgment and is imminently reasonable.
Beneath that cool mask is a fucking neo-con monster driving the train wreck that is America's foreign policy and they need to trot him out when the idiot cheerleader pretending to be president starts not looking convinced when he makes his yippee yiy yay comments about IraqNam.
The media is intimidated by Mr. Reasonable and won't question even the WILDEST statements of confidence he makes, regardless of how utterly disconnected from reality he is.

it is a sign of rebellion in the ranks, an endangered agenda, a really threatened Bush, a direct attack upon Cheney's illusions. Mainly the fact that HE must defend his own dirty work is that no one else wants to or believes it AND a new piece of really dirty work(war with Iran, killing of Castro Chavez etc.) is on the line.
According to Ritter Cheney's dick is already in Iran and he is reacting with the appropriate rage at being disturbed. This and Bolton is his team being threatened and isolated. It's not about Bush's effervescent idiocy.
It is a clear signal to redouble efforts, to encourage GOP pretenders to the throne to do the "right" thing to move DIRECTLY to quash the new advances of the juggernaut already in progress and not simply to fight over the past. That isn't to say let up on the DSM, for example,. On the contrary they are linked, but the linkage only extends so far to Democratic criticism of the present handling of Iraq with little upfront calls for what to do about it.
The linkage should sweep up ALL the trash and avoid what is coming- and as fast and as hard as possible regardless of whatever distracting outrages are desperately thrown in our path.
May I be so cold to suggest that one of these days the apoplectic master of command will be called out on a bad heart day as happened early on.
We have pierced the polls. That has been the sum, total of our success these past eight years and people are still set to die as if nothing matters but the triumph of the WH will and vestigial effects of shattered media shilled lies.
