NEOCON is not the right word! Give me another one!
I know why we are sometimes afraid of the word NAZI, if taken out of context, it is not "PC."

But, in the broader sense of the word,it means "a rigid, my way or the high way, I am entitled to own the world, keep pure WHITES in power and keep down the poor and people of color, keep down the WHITES that are LIBERAL and want to be kind and share the world" kind of person.

GWB and ROVE and Cheney and the rest of the NEOCONS/NAZILIKES are just like that, if we don't like the term NAZI please give me some more vivid ones.

NEOCON is just too nice and is meaningless to the general public.
NeoCon is too high tech.

Please don't flame me. I sincerely believe that the label NeoCon goes nowhere with Mr. and Mrs. America.

We need to nail these evil scum bags for what they are-in my mind they are NAZILIKERS not NEOCONS and I hate everything they stand for...

10. Keep um coming

Can I have your meaning of FACIST? Does it fit the same as NAZI?

To me NAZI paints a clear picture of the Hitler salute, the same hand salute that GWB uses all the time.

Huum, maybe that is why I picture them as NAZILIKERS because of the pictures that I have seen of BUSH and his outstretched right hand.

Do you think BUSH means to send a signal to his base when he does that gesture? Huum...

I think we need to show more photos of BUSH with the hand out and let people draw their own conclusions.

102. morons, huh?
before dishing out insults, you may want to check more in-depth on what fascism is. In case you haven't noticed, uberpatriotism, and ridicule and methodical suppression of opposition and intelligentsia is rampant. Oh, and we've invaded a sovereign country that never attacked us. Good luck explaining that to the world.. MORON!!

105. Well, you may not see "jack-booted thugs" -
they're much more insidious than that. People DO disappear, though.

Nazi Germany is not an ideal representation of fascism. Try Italy during the 1930's under Mussolini.

fascism - n : a political theory advocating an authoritarian hierarchical government (as opposed to democracy or liberalism)

We're not there yet, but it's where the NeoCons would like to take us. Oh, and we're not morons. YOU should do some research.

103. Yep, they fit all definitions, including Musolini's
The term fascism has come to mean any system of government resembling Mussolini's, that in various combinations:

* exalts nation and sometimes race above the individual. (check)
* stresses loyalty to a single leader. (check)
* uses violence and modern techniques of propaganda and censorship to forcibly suppress political opposition. (check)
* engages in severe economic and social regimentation. (check)
* engages in corporatism. (double check)
* implements totalitarianism. (check)

7. Straussian.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straussian

..."As Strauss saw it, "good politicians" need to reassert the absolute moral values that unite society and this would overcome the moral relativism that liberalism had created. To do so, they needed to propagate myths necessary to give ordinary people meaning and purpose as to ensure a stable society. Modern liberalism had stressed the pursuit of individual liberty as its highest goal, and Strauss wanted government to take a more active role in promoting morality. Perpetual deception of the citizens by those in power is critical in Strauss's view because the populace needs to be led; they need strong rulers to tell them what is good for them." ...

..."Leo Strauss saw himself as a conservative, and for the most part, "Straussians" have become closely associated with certain factions within the U.S. Republican Party."

37. There are soooo many instances of their regressivism, including the war
in Iraq. They had to dig back--what--15 years, pre-Clinton, to justify going to war. Their whole agenda and current power base stems from activities begun 30 years ago. There's nothing new with these people--and I suspect their agenda will run out of steam pretty soon.

I think most right-wing Repubs are just ditto-heads. They really don't reason enough to be Neocons. They just believe everything that bushco,Limbaugh and Hannity tells them. I believe originally a Neocon was a right winger who believed in the Bushco empirical foreign policy, but now it seems to apply to any right wing Republican.Calling a ditto-head a Neocon is a compliment.

35. Corpotists or just plain right-wing radicals - or "power hawks"
Either one works for me.

I like corpotist/corpotism because it (so far) is a fairly new term that hasn't been over-used or mis-used like fascists has been. It's unfamiliar enough that it sort of makes people think.

I also like the term "right-wing radicals" bacuse that's what they are. There is NOTHING conservative about this administration, it's the most radical administration we've seen in decades.

"Power hawks" is kind of good - it references the aggressive power-grabbing of this administration.

40. I like Neocon. If you look at the history of our language,
there are plenty of words that began with a positive connotation and assummed a negative one by virtue of how they were used. For example, many people take offense at being called 'ignorant', but it means nothing more than a lack of knowledge. Look at this bulletin board. How many people here have had the word 'liberal' thrown in their face as if it were a 4-letter word?

If they've styled themselves Neocons, I'd just as soon keep using the description until their words and actions cement it with a negative connotation for future generations.

Karl Rove is a Neocon and a fuckhead. I think that says it all.

You are smart and understand the meaning and history of words.

I am trying to get a word that a 6 year old as well as a grandpa can understand and get a visual of...

That is why I'm leaning toward the term "Regressives" for a term that is something Dean and others can throw around like the Regressives throw around Liberal.

Real conservatives are good for a healthy political debate in any country. They don't seek to destroy the other side or establish a totalitarian state. They don't want an imperialistic presidency and don't want to invade other countries.

Criminalist could be tagged to much of the Republican party.

85. Leave The Nazi's Out Of It. The Term You Are Looking For IS:
FASCIST.

Nazi's are a specific brand of fascism with heavy historical baggage that makes it a poor analogy.

Fascist is a political science term that has very specific meaning. PNAC/Neocon scum fit it perfectly.

that would be easily understood by anyone that understands that Regressive has something to do with going backward and not understanding what is happening in today's times.

We want a word that gives instant visuals for young people and older people.

for both fascist and neocon.

Although I do love a combo such as, "I wish someone would capture that fucking fascist douchebag Richard Pearle and show him what fun torture can be."

"Douchebag", All the kids are saying it these days and of course Cheney himself dropped a fat F-Bomb on the floor of the Senate.

100. Busheviks. they are more akin to Russian Bolsheviks than anything American
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 11:02 PM by kodi
In dealing with the Right, even the most articulate, and reading their most articulate essays I'm constantly impressed with their lack of substance. They seem to be without principles, calling what guides them a Hobbseian law-of-the-jungle philosophy seems to be giving them far more distinction than they deserve. Rather their thought seems to be nothing more than crumbs and shards raked together from various sources-- Hobbes, Locke, Smith (invisible hand leading towards utopia), Marx (economic determinism),
Freud (where they get their constant urge to play on middle class fear) and numerous others -- and shaped together into a formless mass which they mold to the desired situation. There is no philosophical system on the right, rather only cynical opportunism mascarading as coherent thought, a fig leaf of virtue to hide their whoring ways.

I have no respect for them because they have no sense of shame. They are more akin to the Bolsheviks of Russia than to anything American (that is the reason that "Busheviks" appeals to me so much). For them everything comes down to attaining and retaining power and cashing in, nothing more.

It is not that the right, or “conservatives” is a dirty word, rather that it exemplifies a position of no coherent philosophy, except pure, unbridled greed.

104. I'll stick with neoconservative...
There's nothing particularly difficult to grasp about the implications of neoconservatism, and it's neither high-tech nor just too nice. But to make sure the average Mr and Mrs America can easily follow what's going on, maybe I should cater to them and drop the term neoconservative and instead use something really cutting like Poo Head?

Violet...

As I review the thread all of the names "FIT."
It probably depends on who we are speaking to about this regime.

If it's my mom , I say "criminals."

My republican "friend," is another issue. I have yet to find a way to describe them to her because she is lost in Neverland.

Well, there is one that I thought got her attention for a heartbeat. I called them "Racist To The Core." She acted surprised that I would say that about her Greedy Old Party.
Note: we are both African American

Did it change her mind - NO! : (

109. Regressive seems to be more "PC" than some of

our other suggestions.

It can surely be expanded to help people get the visual they need.

Example: Dean could say, "That remark doesn't surprise me at all. We know that the GOP should change their name to the ROP. Better known as the REGRESSIVE Old Party because they want to take us backward. They are lost in the 20's and our view of the world is about TODAY and TOMORROW.
