i read an article back in 2001 about needing to get access to soviet oil sites, that would be made accessiable by running a pipeline through Afganistan.

i can't access it, it was by Lawrence Kaplan? Called "From Russia with Loans". It really linked the administration to an agenda that most folks call 'tin-foil'. But that makes very good sense.
