FEMA turns down Massachusetts request for disaster aid
No photo op for Bush to hand out bottles of drinking water/evil liberal state = no aid for you.

BOSTON - Federal emergency officials have turned down the state's request for financial aid for its shellfish industry that is battling a red tide outbreak, saying the toxic algae bloom doesn't qualify as a major disaster.

12. Shell disease also destroying lobster business all along N.E. Coast.
The don't know what's causing it, but shells are developing scabby growths. Not toxic to humans, but they look terrible, and when cooked, the lobsters turn black instead of red. No market for defective lobsters.

Keep dumping crap into the ocean and we are going to get crap back.

2. Sounds like a good call to me.
Its fire and hurricane season. These will be real disasters.

FEMA was not created to prop up industry. Also, aid is available from other sources as mentioned in the article.

4. They've done to Boston like what they did to CA.
I see what you're saying about the industries but we've seen the same sort of nastiness out here that Boston is getting from the White House.

10. I'm Trying To Get Over That Remark About "Propping Up An Industry"
some of these guys have been doing this for GENERATIONS.

Their livelihood is being threatened by pollution.

They provide us with food.

There are precious few Baymen left.

I guess they can all mow lawns now.
