I love it when this happens...
Prowling around a Borders tonight, I noticed a woman carrying a Molly Ivins book. Told her I loved Molly. She said, "Me too. But this is for my friend's birthday. She really wants 'Bushwhacked' but I can't find it."

We had fun looking for the Ivins book, and doing stuff like pointing at The Conservative Mind and guessing it must be all blank pages inside.

She thanked me for my help (she was a really wee short woman, and I'm fairly tall so I could scope out the higher bookshelves for her.) Told her that if she'd been looking for an Ann Coulter book, I would've told her to get lost.

We never did find the book, but an employee found her one where they stash the extra copies.

Do you live in a mostly republican or democrat area? Here it's 75%+ Repug.

:hi:

Even a lot of the Republicans here hate Bu$h! We did get saddled with that bonehead governor, thanks to Darrell "Crybaby" Issa's money. But I don't think he'll be around long.

I feel sorry for you, being so outnumbered. I hope you have some like-minded friends in the area. It's sort of like that where I work (aerospace). But I'm hearing more and more grumbling about The Royal Family lately.

5. Yes, it IS a lot of fun!
I saw a funny cartoon once, with a right-wing couple in a bookstore.

The wife was saying something like: "Let's find Rush's book and get out of here. All these books are SCARY!"

3. An instant bond!
One of my favorite stories about bookstores was on a different site.
Someone posted that they take 'liberal books" and lay them on top of Hannity's, Rush's...etc.. lol

6. Heh! Funny you should mention it...
Michael Savage's grim mug somehow disappeared from its prominent place on a shelf tonight. I think I accidentally misplaced it while I was looking for the Ivins book. Or something.

8. I scoop up bunches of Ann Coulter crap and
stick it face down under a bunch of dollar books in the bargain bin, though it isn't even worth that.
