What If: Bubble Bursts, Hate Radio Crumbles, Sanity Returns |
|
Picture a near future where the real estate bubble bursts in lock step with increases in interest rates. While that's going on people abandon hate radio and in the lead up to the 2006 elections Republicans abandon Bush in droves.
Now think about the mega churches, particularly the heavily mortgaged newer ones. Value gone down, monthly payments gone up, and contributors disappeared. Does the word 'default' come to mind.
Of course as far as I'm concerned they can paint them all blue and put out a WM sign in front.

1. the churches would demand three times as much money |
|
to cope with the crisis... they'd probably promise a new bowling alley while they're at it.
Back during Gulf War 1, my insane mother dragged the family to one of those megachurches. They were actually praying for the money for a bowling alley... then the preacher asked us to pray for George Bush and the war. At which point, my father got up and left. We followed, and never went back.
and in my case, never to any church of any kind ever.

2. Or maybe they will all get raptured and leave the rest of us |

to live in relative peace and sanity.
But seriously, the corporatists would not allow the churches to fail. The churches represent their political base and provide the means to control it.
