7. The Army has a Rodeo Team. This could be their truck
but yes, one of it's goals is to encourage enlistment.

The Army also has a basketball team, a football team, a wrestling team, a volleyball team, they field weight lifters...and send people to the Olympics from time to time.

14. I thought they were either creating a Nascar team, or sponsoring
one, too. That seems like a better source of CFU's (Bush senior's term for the troops, google it up) than volleyball players... I'd think they'd be too mellow for combat or something.

15. They do sponsor a NASCAR team as well
Edited on Sat Jun-25-05 09:54 AM by Solly Mack
The Army likes winning medals and trophies...so they sponsor teams of all kinds....Not just sponsor, but active duty troops participate in a good many of their teams. It's a racket much like college recruiting...

on edit:

No...the army volleyball players aren't all that mellow.

8. Hm.
Army's using visual references to films as recruiting tools, eh? (That image makes me think of "The Magnificent Seven"...7 men in Wild West clothing silhouetted against an orange sky, etc)...

Edited on Sat Jun-25-05 09:31 AM by BiggJawn
"All assholes get them as they get older"?

A rodeo team, eh? Along with their NASCAR sponsorships?

And "Le Train Bleu" had to go get sponsored by "The Chopper Channel" because some fuckwad harumpfed to their congresscritter about stamps costing 37 cents?

10. Well, that's the recruiters best demographic, I'd think.
Many Bush supporters hold romantacized images of the old west and white hat wearing cowboys. But the real cowboys I've met (yes, they still exist,) while fiercely loyal, are plenty smart enough to realize when they've been had. And they don't fool a second time.

So I think this is a quickly vanishing demographic. The army is trying to sign up as many as they can, while they can.

13. Touche...
... and sayin' that bein' a cowboy is "hard work". You know, just like bein' president is "hard work".

It's hard work all right, tryin' to keep all those lies straight when people start to call you on them.

Guess that's why they didn't use cyclists. All that backpedaling gets you nowhere fast.

:sarcasm:

12. Looks kinda fun, doesn't it?
Good friends, a warm campfire, beautiful sunset.

What they don't show is your best friend mortally wounded, the blazing fires of a suicide car bomber, and the lifelong nightmares of a living hell.

FDR said it best: "I hate war."

16. WARNING: Serious gallows humor
Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Keep that prisoner rollin'
'Til that towelhead's showin
No hide!

At Abu Ghraib they're dyin'
While Rumsfeld, he's denyin'
And Code Pink wants some firin'
Of his hide

But Bush got "re-elected"
The prisoners are dejected
Their fate has been selected
No hide!

Strip 'em down
Kick a butt
Stack 'em up
Crack a nut
Take a pic
Show it off
No hide!

Chain 'im down
To a bed
Put some panties
On 'is head
Rabbit punch
To the gut...
No hiiiiiiiiiiiiide!

NO HIDE!

17. I actually approve!
There aren't that many true cowboys left! The only ones they'll suck in with that image is the wannabe's, ya know, the urban/suburban kids who buy into the "Cowboy" brand, like Pepsi, or Marlboro.

Had to stop for new tires the last time I was thru Kansas, Met some real cowboys there. You know, the ones with scratches and dents in their pickup beds and dust on their boots, hefting 150 lb tractor tires.

Reminds me of the old joke about the difference between a Texan and a cowboy. Cowboys have the shit on the outside of their boots.
