Wish me luck
I am off to staff a Dem booth at a community festival in a very rural area, used to be totally Dem years ago, but with the rise of hate radio and the religious right, you know the rest of the story. There has been no Dem booth in recent memory.

I expect to take a lot of flack about CAO (Critical Areas Ordinances) and the recent SCOTUS decision. I have my oh so gentle rebuttals ready (have a few mins before I leave if anyone wants to post short but sweet comebacks!)- but it will be interesting to hear what the average Joe/Josephine has to say.

I will report from the front lines when I return.

Fighting the good fight...... AmandaRuth

1. I bet there will be a lot of folks there just waiting to be
converted. All they need is a little push.

Good luck.

7. Way to go
You may wish to print out some of the grocery list flyers from this site:

http://www.justicefornone.com/handbills/

They've got a really good one about how the Bush Administration doesn't support the troops-an argument I've found to be one conservatives in my area will listen to.

9. Good Luck!
Two years ago a number of peace activist type folks from the liberal college town in a red state - traveled around to various communities for their events... the two primary folks - one religious (left) green (looked hippyish), and a grey haired lady. They were talking about their concerns about the war - in very red areas (that like yours were dems.) Both found warm receptions - and a lot of people willing to talk. It was as if b/c of all the rwing hate stuff that folks had felt cowed to talk and say anything that wasn't rwing - or had no access to other info and were uncomfortable with the info that they did have access to - and were thus very interested in talking and getting more information.

I hope that you have a similar reception.
