Note for Bill O'Reilly
It is not treason to dissent.

It is not treason to disagree.

It is not treason to speak out.

It is not treason to tell the truth.

It is not treason to question our government.

It is not treason to expect our military to be used wisely.

It is not treason to expect adequate equipment for our soldiers.

It is not treason to expect fair treatment for our veterans.

It is not treason to expect humane treatment of our prisoners.

It is not treason to expect honesty from our elected officials.

It is not treason to expect transparency in our government.

It is not treason to expect fiscal responsibility from our government.

It is not treason to hold our elected officials accountable for their actions.

It is not treason to fight to protect our constitutionally guaranteed rights.

It is not treason to expect fair, open, verifiable elections.

It is not treason to mock self righteous hypocrites.

So get over it.

1. We are expected to question, it is our civic duty to do so
It is every American's civic duty to question the Administration in a time of war or not.. If the people as a nation have a problem with this, we must voice our concerns.

I am tired of the Right Winged rhetoric that if you don't agree with us, you are a traitor. They are traitors for trying to impose their beliefs as the only beliefs. That is not democracy....

I never email those idiots, but his 'indictment' of Air America was just too ridiculous.

Edited bad typing

8. He's far from alone - Right Wing False Dichotomy THUG Commentators
Edited on Sat Jun-25-05 11:49 AM by ElectroPrincess
Specifically, Sean Hannity and Joe Scarborough also make my skin crawl. Catapulting the propaganda is correct. :scared:

In my more perfect world we'd can these Right Wing thugs and bring back more moderate commentators. Or at the very least bring back some of the intelligent firebrands like Phil Donahue.

9. True.
But I almost never hear them because I don't watch their programs or listen to them on the radio. I only heard O'Reilly on Air America.

I listened to Rush Limbaugh every day in 1995 and 1996 because I wanted to know my enemy. That was all the right wing propaganda I'll ever need.

5. That very wisdom was imparted to us back in 2001
A Battle Plan for the Democrats
by James Carville and Paul Begala

"But if Mr. Bush continues to push his radical agenda, offering right-wing judicial nominees and environmental policies that threaten our air and water -Senate Democrats may have no option other than to obstruct. They should not shrink from that duty. Stop signs save lives."

6. Let's get some spine!
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, June 2005:

"I know it's frustrating for many of you, it's frustrating for me. Why can't the Democrats do more to stop them? ... I mean, c'mon, toughen up, guys, it's only our Constitution and country at stake. Let's get some spine!"

7. Yes, but he'll just say "Shud-UP!"

Here's a link to an audio interview with NPR's Terri Gross.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1459090

Of course, NPR and respectable college campuses promote more liberal perspectives. Even a moderately democratic view of the world accepts complexity and allows for amendment of one's beliefs IF new information and facts dictate otherwise.

The reason why these THUG type commentators are promoted is that the Right Wing Corporate shills want the average American "dumbed down" so people like "Goebbels" O'Reilly can pound home his talking points each night to a wholly receptive audience.

Uneducated (school learning, I mean - Life itself can be an excellent education if we pay attention) people can use critical thinking as well as professors, however, it takes a true curiosity and acceptance of complexity to continue to evolve one's perspectives.

Sometimes when I get depressed, it seems so easy to think in black and white terms like both ends of our political spectrum. But that is not the real world.

Because we live in a complex world, it's best for civilization and democracy when the people are educated, well informed (current events) and hold flexible perspectives as new information is uncovered.

15. And more
If I can take a poor stab at it.

It is not treason to take YOUR adivce and read.
It is not treason to read from more than once source.
It is not treason to read from the internet.
It is not treason to interpret information taken from other sources.
It is not treason to want questions generated from that information answered.

It may, however, be treason to knowingly lie to the American people, when by doing so you are participating in actively furthering the "agenda" of a corrupt government, which is itself, lying to the people about many serious and potentially treasonous actions.

Maybe. Especially if you're getting paid for it Bill.

But in consideration of the overabundance of more serious forms of treason, we'll probably let it go.
