John Galtung just said

just a few moments ago that there is no way the Americans would win against the Iraqis. He then went on to say the the Iraqi resistance is fighting not only for Iraqis but also for the entire world against American Imperialism.

One startling figure he stated that was that the American Empire has been responsible for between 12 to 16 million deaths - putting it on par with the Nazis.

This was the final speech for today at the War Tribunal on Iraq being held at Istanbul,

Tomorrow will be even more interesting.

Here is the programme for tomorrow and day after (you can hear and see it live on the internet - go to http://www.worldtribunal.org/main/?b=1):

2. Then you should have heard the outstanding speech

by Barbarara Olshansky: Covert Practices in the U.S. War on Terror and the Implications for International Law: The Guantanamo Example (Not a furriner!!)

Barbara Olshansky is the Assistant Legal Director of the Center for Constitutional Rights. Barbara's current docket at the Center includes class action lawsuits concerning immigrants' rights, race discrimination in employment and education, environmental justice and public health, prisoners' rights, and Native American rights.

Today, she showed the link between Guantanamo and the way the Bush malAdmnistration manipulated and took action within "hours" of September 11 in rounding up and disapperaring illegally over 1500 innocent Middle Easterners (but, of course, not those furriner Saudis who said bye bye and flew back to Saudi Arabia) , and more.
