Republican Obsession with US Flag: Idolatry.
A possible Dem talking point?

A friend of mine came up with a perfect retort to the Republican obsession with 'honoring the flag.' Flag worship is idolatry, specifically forbidden by the ten commandments. (I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt have no other gods before me, thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing, thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them.)

Republicans: Idol worshippers! Repent!

To make this story even better - she let this fly while she was on the phone with John Hostettler's office complaining about his offensive comments about Democrats bashing Christians.

On this Christian board I frequent that was the case to this. The flag is a piece of cloth. My argument is you should show how you care for your country by your actions and deeds and how you contribute to society. Not by a piece of cloth made from China. You shouldn't be too obsessed with objects. Remember what happened with Moses' brother and the others who were worshipping calfs. The flag is a symbol of our country and that should be it.

5. and because i can't
help but point out the inconsistancies in the 'book'- While Moses got all pissed about the golden calf, 'God' went on to order the making of a golden 'snake'- the people were supposed to 'look' at it if they got bitten by a snake and it would heal them....

Now, that's not 'idol' worship????? it's an example of why i reject the 'sacredness' of the bible- but don't need a 'book' to support my 'faith'.

And by rights, no 'christian' should swear an oath of any kind- not even on the bible- or say the pledge-
black and white thinking doesn't leave any room for 'grey' never mind the spectrum of beautiful colors that lay between the extreems-
