Wes Clark Is On The Today Show....
I ask that his detractors watch it with an open mind...

I don't see any other retired Four Star's criticizing Bush....

3. Learned not to discuss hypotheticals
Like both Clinton and Dean, the man is a fast study and will learn how to do this very quickly. I also predict that attempts to really push him into a corner will end up backfiring. The public is going to like him better than those who attack him. And that's what makes a great candidate.

4. thoughts on Clark
Very polished and stately. Definitely has "gravitas".
But it is still my opinion that nobody gets to be president (Dem or Rep) witout olding counter democratic principles and a free market bent. Thus they are not someone I can support.

Though I will vote (no chance for Reps there) but my checks are signed to the ACLU, Americans United, Public Citizen, etc.

6. How About We Compromise
I'll support fair markets if you support free markets then we can work together to lift the living standards of all of us...

Tarrifs and trade barriers are just as harmful to folks in developing countries as they are to folks in developed countries....

13. There are no such things as "fair markets" and "free markets".
Those are just position labels to establish the policy advocacy of the speaker. Every country should work work out trade agreements with every other country desired as a trading partner. That is how living standards are raised for everyone, from every country. The problem is the international corporations and this "globalism" that is driving the working class people, all over the world, into the ground. Let's not advocate "free trade" or "fair trade", let's advocate honesty, justice, and equality.

9. Dang it
And now I wish DigitalClark.com was still up so I could watch later.

Is any site archiving the Dean appearances? I've found an mp3 now and then when people were willing to share but that's about it.

14. Matt is again saying GOP Truth tellers - Dems liars - "you changed
your position just now"

referring to the war resolution - where Clark said he'd had given a yes vote to a resolution that increased pressure on Iraq to let inspectors do their job, but would not have signed on to a resolution that did not require the Pres to come back to Congress and report on the failure of the pressure to change things, before going to war. Clark had said he would have given the Pres the tools he needed to pressure Iraq and would probably therefore have voted for the war resolution. Seems Matt takes the GOP view that this is a flip-flop, bless his little GOP GE corporate suck-up heart.

It is like the other Clark non-lie that the GOP have dropped - except for Fox - from the list of Clark evil, now that the transcript has been shoved into the nose of the media.

The Clark comment that the White House had been exerting pressure to get folks to agree Iraq was involved in 911 way back in the week right after 911. He said he had been approached on 911 to make the case. He said show me the evidence (as in - I will if you give me the evidence), and they never got back to him (there was no evidence), so he didn't go forward. And it was all part of a lot of pressure to get the Iraq blame out - recall that the Wilson controversy was front and center then.

Clark showed integrity, saying he would be part of the PR against Iraq if it was documented - but with no proof forget about it And this was spun - and is still spun as Clark being a nut - lying about calls from the White House - when the transcript clearly shows that he said the pressure was comming from the WH - from "everywhere".

And the goes on to say he got a phone call - not saying who from - that pressured him. (later he said a Canadian GOP front think tank - which of course does not recall the call).

according to The Daily Howler: http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh092303.shtml , which cites the Toronto Star.

16. Truth in the USA
Not a chance!

In another thread someone spoke about a call she received where the caller repeated one of the Clark " big lies." Even though anyone who has been on DU would be fully aware of the debunking, the poster just let the caller move on with the big lie firmly in place. In fact, the poster seemed to relish the spreading of the lie because it provided a chance to tout her candidate. Limbaugh-liberals.......
