Poll question: POLL: Has Karl Rove lost his touch?
From the Schiavo debacle to Bush's Social Security push, to his recent ill-received liberal bashing and Bush's plummeting polls, the old Rove magic doesn't seem to be doing so well. What gives?

12. he has straight up lost his mind...
if while sanctioning & then watching the mess in irag unfold after the 'mission accomplished' fiasco he has concluded nonetheless & with such pompous arrogance: "conservatives made plans for war"

what plans? they are no plans! but for handing all their republican contractor cronies blank checks for war materiels

19. KKarl Rove is experiencing difficulty containg bad war news
and judging by his recent comments he's out of touch with how to contain/control negative feedback -- even from what he's learned from prior mistakes from Viet Nam, he's in an unfamimliar zone - enter Bush tueday night speech to rally public support for Iraq war.

Watch for Bush smirks as he delivers his message.

2. He hasn't really lost "touch", his tricks are always the same. Attack and
smear. There just appears to be a limit to their effect when the policies are disastrous to this degree, and the opponents are so far out of power that they can't be reasonably blamed for the result, try as though you might.

3. I'm hoping!!!!
Things aren't as well coordinated lately....I'm hoping he's fallen off the track. (fingers crossed) I've had so many disappointments, that I just can't get too excited--somehow it always goes bad and Bush, et. al. comes out on top.

5. Karl survives by attacking and smearing his opponents. Be ready,
here it comes.

They knew during the election that Bush's negatives were so high with half the country and they couldn't raise them SO the only way he could win was to lie, smear and destroy John Kerry, making him an unacceptable alternative to people who didn't like Bush either. That is their MO and they are returning to it now with their new PR offensive.

7. Sadly, that has worked here in CA, Arnold's numbers are falling BUT...
the democratic legislature has an even lower approval rating. The distrust the GOP because of what actually happens to them, but they distrust the Dems because talk radio tells them too, and Dems either aren't proposing anything that different from the GOP or they aren't being heard.

6. "He's suffered a setback,
so they'll figure out a way to get back on track with a big bang."

i'm afraid we are in for a 'summer surprise' . . . like another terrorist attack . . . or they're going to trot out obl from wherever they have him.

i hope i'm wrong.

8. OBL would only be a blip on the polls, they need the big bang
to sell the Iran War AND the draft that will be necessary to fight it.

I'm hoping the public doesn't fall for it this time.

9. Rove has always worked more behind the scenes but
now he is out in the open and surprise...surprise ...what the public is seeing is not very pleasant. They will just push him back into the closet where he is less dangerous and more effective.

more creepy and disturbing. Because Karl just oozes insincerity and smugness.

14. This is standard operating procedure for Rove
Slash and burn, divide and conquer it's what's he's good at. But eventually things get bad enough and people start to wake up. What the Dems need to do is get out their in full force and offer strong alternatives to what the GOP is offering.

A plan to get us the hell out of Iraq would go a long way IMHOP.

15. When Kerry was asked how he proposed getting the troops out of Nam...
A senator asked him how he proposed withdrawing the troops from Vietnam and Kerry simply said, "In ships."

Since the presence of foreign troops caused the insurgency (in both cases), no plan that prolongs their presence or slows the pace of the pull out will help.

16. I agree with what your saying
the problem is here Democrats saying were there now so we have to finish the job. I'm sorry but that's not a plan. Democrats need to come up with solid solutions to Iraq, health care and job stimulus. Otherwise we'll just keep loosing

20. Remember Colin Powell; "we broke it, we own it" - only 42% of Iraqi have
electricity and thats not on a 24 hour basis so we do have a helluva long way to go, testeday Insurgents blew up another oil pipeline, to me the "insurgents" have a sensible game plan that seems hard to counter?

18. say pull out in a tough voice--that's why they didn't like Dean
he made withdrawal sound manly.

Every time you talk about withdrawal, DON'T say anything like "Let the healing begin." Instead say, "The Bush people lied our troops into this war to fill the pockets of their friends, and I will not rest until every American soldier is out of Iraq and everyone involved in the deceit and intimidation that led to this war is behind bars. And I don't mean club fed."
