5 long months into his second freak term, and 4 years after 9/11, it looks like maybe, just maybe his honeymoon is kaput.

is it safe to think it, or will i be shot down for being a pie eyed optimist?

2. For most New Yorkers...
it was over when he showed up, bullhorn in hand, 4 days late. For the die-hards, the honeymoon will never be over.

11. ".... when he showed up,

He wanted to see how "My Pet Goat" ended, and he needed to be briefed on how to operate the bullhorn. Bullhorn. How appropriate.

3. Never underestimate neocon persistence and resilience which, added
to tricks of their sleeves and new products to market, sadly make the end of the honeymoon far from certain IMHO.

4. If it was just "him" I'd be optimistic. But your lookin at
the whole BFEE and it's stretches beyond even Nixon's wildest ambitions. Mostly because it's all of Nixon and Poppy I's team involved in it.

I think it's going to be really bad for a long time MoPaul. But, I agree we might be a "turning point."

Still, they've dismantled almost everything we knew growing up and their people are still in place. Getting rid of Bush won't do it... It's gotta be a huge philosophy change where we get Nuremburg type prosecutions against ALL OF THEM.

There are so many....they will be there as the "evil of the devil" dogging us for so many years...we don't want to think about it.

 But, yes...the "push back" has begun.

Just gotta go and get "meds" for the rest of it.

8. Optimism more than a smidge optimistic
I hate to say it but I think your optimism is unrealistic (this coming from a certified card carrying pessimist). Reason? It's all very well to "get Bush" but it won't do much good unless you get the V.P. and all the other neocons on down the line of succession. Cheney as Prez. Yikes! Also, I don't have much faith in most of the Dems either. I think most Dems secretly (and sometimes not so secretly) support Junior's policies, because they, too, are closely aligned with the corporate world. And common sense tells us that the U.S., home of the best and worst brains+character of the world should put up for election some of the worst should be something to seriously think about. Why do so many morons and ill doers rise to the top while our more stellar are not called to service? (I'm a Canuck and can say much the same about Canada. Martin isn't our brightest light but he is a corporate man who reflects corporate thinking. Profits are where it's at and all but his own kind are used as tools towards attaining the goals of a "chosen" few. And yet, we, too, delude ourselves into thinking we have a democracy. Man it's a joke.)

The Democrats are not stupid and many of them have the inside track of what's really going on. They've had plenty of time and all the ammunition necessary to launch a super campaign against this administration. For the most part they've shown no backbone; thus, I'm suspicious of them too. As Noam Chomsky is fond of saying (paraphrased), the Democrats and the Repubs are simply opposite sides of the SAME coin. I think the Dems have more of an edge in favour of the masses; still, it is the ruling class they most favour.

Impeach a Prez for being complicit in a "B&E" forcing a resignation. Not a problem. Impeach a Prez for having sexual dalliances with young interns and others--and, horrors or horrors, LYING about it. Egads! The sky is falling; the sky is falling. Nah, a little B&E; a little sex. Gives the press a field day and serves to show that Americans under a democratic constitution permits--nay, encourages the Fourth Estate to go after Presidents who do not uphold their oath of office. Such an exercise illustrates just how democratic the the U.S. is. And besides, there's not much loss of face worldwide. Nixon went on to be a talking head all over the world; China embraced him yet again. And good ol' affable, fun loving Clinton makes a fortune on the talking circuit and has even been known to hunker down with Bush Sr. Now isn't that special!

But, that the nation would allow a president to be brought down for going to war against a defenseless, innocent country whose people were already demoralized, downtrodden, hungry and sick before the engagement was "officially" set into action; and that such a president also sanctioned torture would be unthinkable. These represent crimes against humanity--crimes that are the sole acts of dictators from other countries--not the U.S.--the champion of equality and freedom.

I sure as hell feel the sting at knowing what horrors Junior has unleashed upon the world under the banner of freedom and democracy. He mocks us all. But will he be brought down? I very much doubt it.

9. He got no honeymoon from me, so I can't say.
My guess is that most Americans STILL haven't realized that he said exactly the WRONG thing on 9/11 and afterwards. He called it an "act of war" because he was looking at it as an opportunity. That elevated Osama and his dinky al qaida in status. It gave them NATION status. It Osama the equal of a head of state, instead of the cockroach scurrying criminal he is.
