The US MSM has ignored this event, zlitch coverage

The War Tribunal on Iraq is having a historic final session in Istanbul, Turkey. The Jury will submit their verdict on Monday.

The following report is in Yahoo News.

Witnesses at anti-war tribunal slam US actions in Iraq

Sat Jun 25, 2:54 PM ET
ISTANBUL (AFP) - The World Tribunal on Iraq (WTI), an anti-war grouping of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), intellectuals and writers, heard witnesses condemn the United States for rights abuses and the worsening plight of Iraqi women.

A former US Air Force pilot called on US troops in Iraq to "resist" the orders of their superior officers in an "illegal war".

"Today Iraq has been turned into a vast prison," lawyer Amal Sawadi told the hearing.

"They come to people's houses in the middle of the night, when everyone is asleep, blow in the door. They point their weapons in people's faces ... they search women in front of their families, they smash everything in the house." more....

Please DU this Yahoo report if you have a reason to complain about the American MSM failure to cover this. Thanks

1. I posted earlier about this and it fell down rather quick
I read it and I was shocked at the horror. I would've thought here at DU it would have more attention.

snip:
She said lawyers had problems getting news of their imprisoned clients and spoke of rapes and humiliations which amounted to the "systematic practice of torture."

The only journalist present in the city of Fallujah when it was attacked in April and November 2004 said the assault on it amounted to "genocide".

5. Appalling, isn't it?
That * would ORDER OUR TROOPS to commit war crimes, atrocities, genocide and other assorted crimes against humanity and the MSM doesn't bother to cover the tribunal that was convened to hash all the dastardy deeds out?

7. We need to keep this kicked and I'm recommending!
More evidence to back up the pics and videos being released on Thursday.
There is NO EXCUSE FOR THIS NOT TO BE COVERED in the NEWS!

There was also a House vote yesterday that hasn't been covered. It was on C-Span and oh man...did they BLOW IT AGAIN! It's on Randi Rhodes (audio) on the Friday show! The Chair (Republican Representative from Florida, Adam Putnam) KILLED the Amendment. He changed the voice vote from AYE to NO!!! The bill involved United and whether they should be responsible for paying the pensions (retirement) or the taxpayers should foot the bill. The Dems had an amendment added so that United would ultimately be responsible for paying the pensions. The AYE's CLEARLY WON! You barely heard one NO! Unfrickinbelievable!

The MORE pressure the better!

peace.

18. And it's not the 1st time they've done it....
I've seen it happen at least once before in the last week or so. I'm a CSPAN junkie, unless I'm watching FSTV I'm usually on CSPAN.

Recommending

14. That's because there is no mainstream media
Only corporate controlled media and this isn't good for the bottom line and it won't make the stockholders happy.

16. US GO HOME - World Guantanamo Day

At the World Iraq Tribunal, a few minutes ago Samir Amin just called for the WORLD GUANTANAMO DAY to be organised with the call being

US GO HOME

He suggested that people should war the Orange Jump Suits worn by the prisoners.

Will anyone in the US organise this?

Who is Samir Amin:

He is an Egyptian-born and Paris-trained better known Neo-Marxian thinkers, both in development theory as well as in the relativistic-cultural critique of social sciences. Promoter of the conscious self-reliance of developing countries, particular for the Arab world.

Major Works of Samir Amin

* Accumulation on a World Scale, 1970.
* Neo-Colonialism in West-Africa, 1971.
* Unequal Development, 1973
* L'echange inégal et la loi de la valeur, 1973
* Imperialism and Unequal Development, 1976.
* The Arab Nation, 1976.
* The Law of Value and Historical Materialism, 1977.
* Class and Nation, Historically and in the Current Crisis, 1979.
* The Arab Economy Today, 1980
* The Future of Maoism, 1981.
* The Dynamics of Global Crisis, with G. Arrighi, A.G. Frank and I. Wallerstein, 1982.
* Delinking, 1985.
* Eurocentrism, 1988.
* Maldevelopment in Africa and in the Third World, 1989.
* L'empire du chaos, 1991
