India's Involvement In Big Oil

I have noticed that almost all the gas stations around me seemed to be owned by Indians, especially the Indians with those turbans. I don't have any problem with that and I prefer the Mobil station near my RV park because the guy, Rajiv gives great service. I have an old Gremlin and he helps me with its problems. I just wondered and also you never hear India complaining about the damage fossil fuel is doing to the environment. Does big oil have a deal with India?

If you go back in history, India threw out the big oil giants - Esso, Shell, etc. They have their own oil exploration programmes. They have strategic alliances with Iran and are working on an alliance with Venezuela.

The US and British oil companies would desperately love to get back in force in India. Remember the Enron debacle started with an anti-Enron movement in India - the Afghanistan pipeline was originally to feed this Power Plant in Maharashtra.

As regards Sikhs, the people who wear turbans - they are as Indian as any others. There are a few separatists. They are some of the most hard-working people of India. The entire wheat revolution in India was due to the hard work of the Sikhs. They are excellent technicians and have contributed much in all fields from engineering, politics, education, army, etc. in the development of India.

I (personally) do not know a single Sikh who claims he is not Indian first and Sikh second. (And I know many many Sikhs.) Remember, the Sikh religion is the absolute midway between Hinduism and Islam-ism, respecting both.

Indians abroad are service oriented and that is why they are found in many service industries where they work hard and become millionaires. The corner-shop grocery store in the UK is an example where they now absolutely dominate as they work round the clock to serve their customers.

5. Wow, great post

I really like the guy Rajiv. He told me he does at least one good deed a day for spiritual reasons. He knows I am usually in trouble with the my car and he helps. One day he filled my car. did the oil, antifreeze and wiped all the windows. I tried to tip him with what little money I had and he said to donate it to a children's charity. The guy must work like 18 hours a day.
