All this Clark stuff seems very familiar and ironic.... |

I seem to recall a lot of people on these here pages saying about certain candidates (I'm paraphraising):
"Well so what if his positions are that of a centrist? He's willing to speak out against buschco and say how and why the war was wrong!"
"So what if he's NOT actually a liberal? We know that. But he's speaking out against bush* and that's what we need"
"All of these attacks from other candidates supporters mean nothing more than the fact that they are AFRAID of him!!"
"Posting right wing news articles whose only sources are second hand accounts and innuendo is horrible (HORRIBLE!!) and a dirty tactic!"
"People are attacking him because they can't defend their candidate"
"He is the ONLY ONE who can beat Bush!"
Well now there is another person in the race who fits the same criteria (and according to polls the only one who can truly say this last statement applies to him), and who is being attacked in the same way (ironically enough by the same people who decried some of this stuff and were simply shocked (SHOCKED I TELL YOU!!) when people used the same tactics on their candidate.
Clark isn't my guy for the primary but I would be damn happy to vote for him in November of '04. I expect the unfocused lashing, innuendo, and brutal savaging from the right. But a lot of what I'm seeing on here dissapoints me to no end.

I had noticed that hypocrisy too. To all die-hard single-candidate supporters there: WHY ARE YOU DOING ROVE'S WORK FOR HIM?

'Clarkies' are 'ignorant newbies,' who are terrified of the power of the 'Bush evil crime family empire' who turn to a 'big bad white knight in shining armor' but in so doing are allowing the Republicans to 'define the agenda' and would lead the country further down the road to 'corporatism,' thus ruining it. Such people obviously deserve what they get.
This is totally different from the wholly undeserved criticism a certain other candidate has received in the past, because that candidate is an expression of 'people power,' who would 'return power to the people' despite having the most conservative economic agenda and track record of any of the candidates. That makes the dynamics of the attacks on Clark and his supporters an entirely new kind of criticism we've never seen before. We are making history by redefining the concept of hypocrisy here; get on board or get left behind.
